FIRST OF LET ME SAY I LOVE MY CAR!!! AMAZING SET OF WHEELS!!

BUT,

This is my first time buying a new car. I'm definately have a frustrating experience! These are the issues I have with my car and all the experiences that go with it! I'm trying so hard to enjoy this Stang!

Here's my story:

1. Stratches on exterior paint and interior door panel, before I took delivery
2. No problem, they fix them up.
3. Next 3 weeks had two tiny "pen-tip" chips in the hood and one ding the size of my fingernail.
4. Brought car in to get previously scratched paint and interior fixed up. Car was painted, but they forgot to order the poor panel. Didn't clean up overspray near newly painted areas (Had to take it in a week later to get it all buffed.) But, they did take the hood stratches and ding out for me and put it under warranty!! But, then again when they repainted the hood (because of the rocks chips), they put a fine 6" scratch in under the clear coat. (won't fix-not to visible any way)
5. Strut problem started up. Interlock device acting up (key getting stuck in ignition).
6. Brought the car in to get the door panel replaced (they said it finally came in).
Strut problem fixed. Interlock device fixed, but they scratched vinyl by the shifter, the stereo and brokes the clips when taking my steering column apart to get athe the ignition. Oh.....plus.....they had ordered the wrong door panel!.
7. Found an acid rain defect on spoiler. Have to take the car in to get spoiler painted....have the door panel replaced. Have the newly scratched interior fixed up...which they took the blame for.
8. Someone stole one of my tire valve tips
9. Found a defect in the vinyl trim on the roof (exterior)...don't know if it's a problem though. Maybe if it rains hard?
10. Scratched the paint under the front bumper, right down the fiberglass, backing out of a parking stall and rubbing up against the cement bumper (my own stupidty!!)
11. Oh, another bit of dumbness on my part. A strap from a bag got caught hanging out of the trunk, now my trunk clicks twice, instead of once, but still locks.
12. Just noticed this morning that the vinyl on the ceiling next to the door is coming down. On both sides, but more on the right.

So do I have reason to be frustrated? Angry? Or am I making a something out of nothing?

sounds like good reasons to be Frustrated to me. I know the harder I try to keep my car in good shape the more things that seem to happen like yesterday on the way home from work I hear a loud hit and think great a rock. Well sure enough I just got done washing her today and noticed what looks like a rock took a lil skip across the top of my hood and made a lil scratch.....SUX

If it was me, I talk to the service manager. From what you said, it appears they are willing to correct the defects and accept responsibility for their screw=ups, that is good news. The bad news is that whoever is working on the car is extremely careless.

Man, that stinks! I would definately be frustrated as well. It's hard to find good qualified help these days. You would think you would be able to from an authorized dealer, though!

Man, I don't know how anyone can keep their car mint! I've only had mine for two months and one of those months it's been in the shop.

I've tried to take total care of my baby, but it's still getting abused! and not all by me.

To all those who are able to keep their cars mint...YOU ROCK..I don't know how you do it! Man, I wish my car was still driveable in a plastic bubble!

can you be frustrated? Sure you can, but some of those things are not Fords fault. #7 you say you found an acid rain spot on the spoiler. Not Fords problem there. You have a lot of issues it sounds like with the car but most of them you caused yourself. I think you need to start being more careful. More than half of the things you posted were caused by yourself. The things you are having problems with that are a result of a factory defect FORD will take care of and by the looks of things, they have been.

You bought a new model car so there are going to be issues. My car has been in several times for defective parts. As far as the body goes I have 1 stone chip from a car going the opposite direction on a highway. I ordered some touch up paint and will fix that this weekend. You will get scratches and paint chips just from normal use. You will also get tons of water spot marks if you leave your car sitting out in the sun after you have washed it or it rained unless you dry it off.

*Knock on wood* that the dealer is fixing all the problems either under warranty or problems they created. They've been good about that. I don't expect them to fix the couple of things I did myself.

The acid rain paint defect on the spoiler....factory issue...(not my fault..car is spotless after it's weekly wash!!) It's covered under warranty....Going by what the body shop manager told me!

Score:

Factory defect: 3 (so far)
Dealer Damage: 7
Damage caused by me: 2
Damage caused by other cars or persons: 2

Tyson:

Factory defect only being 3 sounds pretty good to me...trust me most all cars have some minor factory defects (our 99 solara had 3 /small ding/wipers/fuel pump)

Dealer Damage 7...id take to another dealership for fixing

Damage caused by you or others...drive alone and wrap yourself in plastic

Isn't this the truth. I got a rock ding in the hood 4 days after i got her. Then yesterday I caught the piece of rebar holding one of those concrete barries down and actually ripped the piece of plastic under the bumper. You can see it unless you climb under the car, but I know it is there.

New Cars are just magnets for crap to happen.

me and my wife were talking and I think after some time when the lil chips etc on my hood get annoying I may just get another hood like the ones I have been seeing in the Mods section. BUT lets hope I dont have to rush it if you know what I mean.
