Truthfully, I can't fathom why any auto enthusiast would buy a Mustang GT automatic unless they have some painful physical disorder that prevents them from shifting.
I actually had thoughts of an automatic... as my Dad would probably like to drive my car here and there, and he can't work the manual for physical reasons. He drives autos only due to that. And he's quite the car guy. So yes, indeed, there are those who isn't not a choice.

Wow, it was subscribed to? Kewl. Even if for a teeny bit of time.

/y'all need to not compensate, I guess?
//I'd appreciate it if y'all would tone down the vitriol regarding the auto drivers... remember, the current Mustang auto will give a good run, if not outright beat, the stick... so there's something to be said for it.
///Except the 'fun' factor.
////in which case, take it out of 'D'.

I do appologize if I offended anyone, ultimately it comes down to personal choice...which is a rediculous argument in real life much less in the fictitious land of the interweb.

Certainly, the modern automatics are very, very good and with a tune are very adept at putting down quick, consistent runs in the 1/4. Personally though, I don't "live my life a quarter mile at a time". I'll always choose a stick to better handle life's twists and turns. The only times I want to beat are my own and if I miss a shift I will turn around and try the course again. My lame sexist jokes aside, it really has nothing to do with compensating or not. It is simply more involving, fun and enjoyable to shift myself.

Edit: Speaking of auto vs. manual, I spent last fall building a new Escort GT stock car and had to switch from an auto to a manual because the 1995 era automatic tranny would be useless on our local oval track. What a pain that was...luckily we had a complete manual parts car because we had to change everything...complete engine harness, all electronics, guages, pedals, shift linkage, clutch assy, even the halfshafts were different lenghts!

I do not think most people were really flaming. I think its a complete lack of understanding of what people get out of autos. I dont get it.

OK I could not stay away….

I’m not at all offended and I appreciate the Op sharing his joy for having a 5-speed. Awesome glad you like it man and I hope you continue to enjoy the hell out of it.

I just think it’s funny what strong opinions people have about other people’s cars, options, etc. We see it with transmissions, the V6 vs. GT thing, and a host of other what always end up as controversial topics. I quit driving sticks when I got past my mid 20s for all kinds of reasons. An auto suits me and if folks don’t understand that then that’s fine too, no need to get all worked up about the “shifttronic faiggotry” Mustangs other people drive.

I have an auto and still giggle at the sheer joy of mashing the pedal and having rubber ripping perfectly timed shifts. The automatic transmission has come a long way, the shifts are instant and the car takes off like a jet, you never stop feeling yourself press into the seat until you let off the pedal. Sticks are fun too, for different reasons and for differing driving or lifestyles. That’s why they call them “options”.

Any how I think I’m going to head over to the appearance mods section now and make a few” rice” comments just for giggles.

I love my stick shift on the open road, but in traffic...not so much. I wish I had the $$$ to own both!
