How's this for a kick in the head

Upon hearing that my wife and I are expecting our first child, I made the decision to trade in my 2006 GT in November. While I was sad to see it go, we were able to get a more practical car that will suit her and our growing family (08 CRV).

My neighbor loved my GT. He told me about a million times that I shouldn't get rid of it even if we are starting a family. I told him that it wasn't really my dream car though so parting with it wasn't all that bad. I really want a Roush Stage 3 or an 04 Termi.

My neighbor is the best family man I know, and two weeks ago for his 49th birthday his wife surprised him with...you guessed it, an 08 Roush Stage 3 (same color as my GT was, black). The only thing I could say to him when he got it was that although he deserved it, he would now have to move because living next door to him just got unbearable!

Trust me... All things in due time. I spent my younger years lusting after mustangs, but with family demands, just couldn't swing it. Last year, My wife and I went to "look" at cars and we drove home in an '07 GT (Grabber Orange). When I asked my wife if she was sure about buying it, she said, "You've always wanted one, but you've never gotten to have one because somehow other things came first. Now its your turn". I just turned 50. I guess what I'm saying is that at different times of your life, there's different priorities. After you're done raising a family, it'll be your turn again.

You know.. I figure I'll get more use out of my car after getting married & having kids. I can't use the backseats for anything or anybody now, but I bet I could fit up to two kids under 10 there pretty easily. So I guess I'm good for another.. 15 years?

Interestingly, I got rid of my "fun" cars thinking I would do the "right" thing and get a "family" car -- I got an Accord sedan and we called it the "toaster."

In short, I didn't have it long enough to change the oil and I got an '05 GT convertible. Kid rides in the back when he has to (top up, of course!) -- no problems at all!

LOL, "the toaster"

jpro, if I were you, I'd make very good friends with that neighbor...... then tell him your car broke down- see if he has sympathy for you.

We're already good friends, so taking a spin once in a while won't be a problem...as soon as the weather breaks. I don't know if he'll like it when I smoke the tires though!
