Anyone have word on first month sales figures of the 2005 Mustang? We heard earlier there were 25k advance orders for the car. Back when the first Mustang was introduced, there were around 22k sales the first day or so.

Just got an answer on sales; in October, overall Mustang sales were down a little, but no fault of the 05. They were selling , of course, just as fast as they were delivered to dealers. Overall, a 20% increase in retail sales. It was the fleet sales that pulled the totals down. November will likely give a much better picture of the '05 sales with dramatic increases expected over a year ago.

my question was about number of units sold; of course it's a no brainer that the new ones are selling fast. There's no need to be rude.

In October they sold 9,232 cars ... that's all I can tell you. That was down 5% from last year but you also have to remember that not all of the 05s were on the lots yet.

As of last Friday 18,000 units built. I assume all 18K are sold. Average store life of a GT is reported to be 2 hours! These figures are from the auto industry documents. I get these reports every Friday on all US car production.

Actually I hope sales are slow. That means less of them on the road! Not going to happen though. Give it time this car will continue to sell like hotcakes. I know a lot of people that haven't even see it yet.

This guy came into my office last night and asked me what car was on my desktop. I told him it was the Mustang.

I could've sworn I made everybody that came across my path aware of the new Stang!

I'm guessing that Ford releases actual unit sales on a quarterly basis with the fiscal stuff.

Don't quote me on this, but I thought I heard that the average Stang is on the lot 45 minutes! I don't doubt it.

I don't believe this 2-hour-on-the-lot crap at all.... all the dealers in my area STILL have their Mustangs. It took one dealership 10 days to sell a Black GT stick, nearly fully-loaded, and that was in Princeton, NJ, an upscale area.
I'm not saying they don't sell fast other places, but I haven't seen them being sold immediately in the tons of dealerships I live around...

That must mean that some are on the lot 5 minutes or so. Our local dealer had torch red for 3 weeks. Another dealer in Grand Rapids had 2 GT's and and a 6 for at least 2 weeks before they sold. I'm not sure people know much about them yet. When they do these things will sell like hot cakes. The other thing in my opinion is that this is not the best time of year to introduce the Mustang. It gets nasty here in Michigan.

The deal I backed out of last night was sold before I left the dealership.

I think the commercials will really start the "hype" for the people that don't know about it yet.

The sales figures are hampered by the lack of production. Until last week, the Mustang production was barely 2500 units per week. Last week it was close to 3000. If you want to see the production figures for ALL North America go to Car Production . Since the beginning of the production (9 weeks) , just 18,000 Mustang had been produced.

I believe it. The dealerships that you are talking about might be trying to keep them on the lots on purpose by not offering any deals. And they probably had some pre-orders that they HAVE already sold
