How to remove door panels?

It's probably a coincidence, but a couple of weeks ago I left my pass. side window down about 1/4" by mistake (had the windows cracked, was cleaning inside the car, and rolled the pass side up thinking it went up with the auto up feature, but it obviously wasn't far enough down to activate it....) It rains and storms here every day since I got my car, so some water got on the inner door handle and in the map pocket. I was sick with anger at myself for not checking the window more thoroughly. Water was running around the insert and out the bottom...

Shortly after I have a rattle from the passenger door. Maybe unrelated. But I wouldn't mind removing the door panel to see if I wrecked some sound deadener or something. The door isn't soft or flexy or anything...

How do you remove the panel? Remove the fasteners from the back and bottom, and then are there clips?

Also, the thread for the rattly trim piece behind the inner door handle is gone/I can't load it. Is there much to removing the piece? Just pull it out, install some foam weatherstripping and replace?

Thanks in advance.

James

Search on here is flaky. :P

I did the same thing. Had the windows all the way down while the back end of the car was in the garage (front out) and was under the car. I heard water splashing but thought it was the neighbor's kids playing in their pool. Turns out it was a summer downpour and the interior got...washed.

Pulled it in, let it dry with the windows open all night and a few towels on the floor to sop up the water. Took it for a long drive with the windows open next day. No problems whatsoever. Doors witches still work fine. Speakers, too.

I think the interior is a bit more waterproof that we'd expect. Not that I'd want to do that kind of stupid again, but at least it survived.

Isn't that feeling in your stomach you get when something like that happens great? Another car I had the wind tore the door out of my hand when I was opening it carefully and slammed the end of the door into a bollard. Nice and sick after that.

While you've got the door panel(s) off, consider applying a roll of Dynamat to the inside of the panel. I did that and it quieted things down considerably.

I always wanted to take the doors off and go for a cruise. Don't know why.

I believe there are a bunch of screws around the bottom of the plastic panel that hold it on the door; I beleve you also have to take a couple of pieces off around the door handle and the window buttons. crutchfield had a guide on how to do this, but I cant find the link; fortunately, I still have the document though. pgs 5,6, & 7 talk about how to remove the door (hopefully I can't get in trouble for this ) Anyway, after you get the screws removed, the panel lifts up off the door; it is not too hard, but it helps to have two people (one to hold the panel after you take it off).

It looks like the crutchfield doc it is similar to the link you found, I guess I need to look at the previous posts closer before I post

Ok, It has been a while since I've removed the door panels and my car isn't here at the moment to be able to look at it,but if I remember right,You have to remove the small clip panel inside the arm rest, behind it is a screw to remove.then there is a screw behind door handle, you'll also need to pull up the cover on the window switch, unplug harness,I can't remember if there will be a screw there or not,but if there is remove it.since you've removed the screws around the door panel ,it should be ready to come off.But be carefull not to break the latch on the door handle, when removeing the door handle cable.Hope this helps.
The PDF file will help you out,I didn't look at it before replying ,but any way seems I remebered right .lol
