I did a search of 05 Mustang inventory last night on the Ford web-site. I don't know if these cars are really on the lots, but a Ford dealer that is only 10 miles from me shows the exact Stang that I would order in stock:

Premium GT
Sonic Blue
Grey interior
Side Air Bags
IUP
Anti-Theft

I haven't called the dealer, but I'd bet that the car is a customer order.

This might be a timeless question, and this might be a lucky thread I think everyone that posted in October has their Mustang.

I'm waiting. I have yet to see my exact car anyways on a dealers lot.

Those with Premium packages and no IUP would seem to have the best luck getting off the dealer lot.

I grew tired of Ford's lack of attention to customer orders and bought one off the lot. The "lot" was 350 miles from my house (30 miles from my hometown). Pretty much what I ordered (GT, IUP, upgrade wheels) but Black instead of Mineral Grey. But, the guy gave it to me BELOW invoice so it was well worth the trip back home. I was going to get the one ordered on X Plan but this was still less expensive.

To date, it's been well over 3 months since I placed my order and Bill and the boys haven't even pulled the order yet. Those fellas at Ford, sharp as a tack.

Based on my experience, if you find one you like buy it! Waiting for Ford to pull your order is the same as hoping Santa brings you that Pony. In my case, I sense neither will ever happen. (I still check every Friday AM to see if I won the GT lottery of the week).

Well I'm "settling" on one because I haven't even put an order in yet. I've been told that 6 months would be best case scenario. Probably more like 7-8. So, I'm getting:

Premium GT
Torch Red
Charcoal Int
IUP Lite
17" Machined Wheels
Anti-Theft
Wheel Locking Kit
Shaker 1000

The only thing that bugs me is that I want the full IUP. However, I'm going to have as much added as I can of the 4 things I'll be missing.

1. 6 instrument panel w/ mycolor : I really want this. I hope it won't be a pain getting my dealer to install it.
2. Satin Aluminum dash paneling. The thing I hate about this is that I heard you have to order a new airbag with the new paneling.
3. Aluminum Door Handles : Shouldn't be a problem getting or installing
4. Doorsill Scuff Plates : This shouldn't be any trouble either

So anyway, I'm getting this car, and just hoping that it won't be a lot of trouble to get the mycolor 6 inst. panel and aluminum dash paneling installed.

At this point I don't think I could settle for one off the lot unless it was a near perfect match. Waiting 17 weeks has made me even more determined to get exactly what I want, otherwise the whole wait was just a waist of time. Of course if I could find what I want on a lot I'd be more wiling to accept MSRP rather than XPlan after waiting all this time.
