So who will break down and grab the first stang they can get regardless if they pre-ordered or not?

I'm starting to see GT's popping up on dealer inventories through the Ford Direct Locator in my area, and I ALMOST find myself saying #$%& it, I'm going to try and bag one.

Thing is I've ordered mine FULLY loaded with the exception of the upgraded wheels and I'm happy with my selections, I probably won't see a car pop up that is exactly like mine, but will I settle?

I don't think I will, how about the rest of you?

That's a tough call. I made a few compromises on previous cars taking one from stock. It was small stuff, and I was completely happy with them.

But this time. . . hmmmmmmm

Not gonna happen.
It will be exactly as I dream it is.
I will wait for the ordered one. I am at an age where I can almost do it.

At least you have a good one to pacify you! Going back 20 years and not selling my 66' GT would help!

I know what I want, don't expect to settle for anything else, the only way I would rush to the dealer and pick one up is if my daily driver beater died on me.

In one year I can be driving THE exact car I want, and it will be 6 months old. Or, in one year I can be driving the car I settled for, and it will be 11 months old. In any case, in one year this early frenzy won’t matter, and I’ll still have four years of payments left. I’ll wait for EXACTLY what I want - won’t settle for less.

I won’t be the first one on my block with an ’05, but I’ll be happy with the only one that matters - the one in my driveway.

the salesman i was sitting in the v6 with asked me when will i be buying i told him 1st of all its a definite sale but i want a GT. i told him its the car i want. i told him i want the car after winter and he said we'll have plenty by then and then i laid it all out i said i want a specific car so i want to preorder. soo i started telling him the options i want and in the v6 i was showing him. i was like 1st of all a GT premium manual trans. IUP, ICA, the works pretty much and hes like wow u know what u want. soo i took his card took some pix and left happily

I would order one (haven't yet) If I saw my setup on the lot before my order arrived, i would get that. Basically whichever comes 1st.

Or unless I got a good deal on my order, and had it in writing. I'd just wait for the order, unless the dealer that has it in the lot can match it.

i'm not going to settle. the only way i'd buy off the lot is if i found my identical car. unfortunatly i'm kinda partial to my VIN number. weird huh? i guess i've waiting this long, a few more weeks won't kill me.

but a few more months would.

I actually broke down tonight and put a deposit on one that's expected in for dealer stock. The only thing about the car that isn't exactly what I would've ordered is that it has the 17" polished aluminum rims instead of the bullets. I figure if I try a little or just look around, the bullets will come to me by either means of trade or swap meet.

Dealer nearby told me today that his one Redfire was purchased today via wire transfer by a fellow from England. He will be personally flying into Newark Airport where he will drive it to the dock for exportation to England. Pretty amazing stuff, and I believe the guy. They've been upfront with me for a long time.

I broke down, but am not sorry. They're doing it at MSRP which is more than I can say for a few dealers I've spoken with.

Waited all year so what's another week or so. Wouldn't change unless it was nearly the exact model (would go yellow or red(ordered red)) or had more options, never less.

Although I ordered three weeks ago, and am "delayed" I will probably settle if a car I like comes my way. I have some "wants" (leather/auto/spoiler/IUP), but color isn't an issue-they ALL look good!

I wouldn't mind taking one off the lot as long as it is the EXACT configuration I was looking for. None of the dealers around here allow test drives on high performance cars unless you are approved for a loan and intend to buy, so I wouldn't worry about any of the local cars having been on any joyrides.. I happened to luck out with my cougar on this.. I was going to order one, then I found one exactly how I wanted in a dealer about 20 miles away.. So i had my local dealer get it from them.

I have never ordered a car off the lot, but when I buy the Pony, it will be ordered exactly as I want it. The plan is to order around Christmas or early in '05 to try and time it for spring.

Hey, I am still alive- and I even passed up a road trip to see one this afternoon, I must be doing something right.

However tomorrow is another day- and I have been promised a sweet lime one any second now to play with at my will..... clear the roads.

I think we need to have a thread posting pre-order pictures of ourselves, then one during the waiting, then another when the car arrives...... I think it would be quite interesting.

That might not be too pretty.
