I was looking at the gage when I start the car after it has been off for a while, cold engine. It sits on the red for a good second or two, then comes up.

If the car has just been running it jumps up more immediately... As in one of my thrice weekly 70 dollar fill ups!

Cold oil? Anti drainback valve not anti drainbacking? I'll have to see if it changes when I put a new filter on.

Are you talking about the oem gauge? Mines up immediately. an aftermarket gauge should reg higher pressure when cold...

I would get a new filter on there. Sounds like it's draining dry. Mine pops up almost instantly.

The secret is... if you turn the key to run the gage actually starts to climb to about 1/3 of the way up. Then begins to sink.

If you start the car immediately (not pausing at the run detent) the pressure goes to 0 and then jumps up instantly on the gage.

If you let the gage sink past the low mark, then fire up the car, the gage takes a while to respond.

Good old electronics!
