How do I fix a cross theard screw that holds front seat

I went to put the seats back in my car no problems until I think I put one in a little crooked and didn't notice. As I tightened it got very hard to turn half way in. Now I cannot tighten it all the way and when I try it to start it straight I can't. What do I need to do?

Have you tried run-in a tap of the correct size down the hole to clean up the threads?

No I haven't. I've done alot of things but I've never used or even thought about taps. How do they work?

Here ya go, some videos to help ya out!

This one's about tapping. Die is the same idea, really, just reversed on what's going on.

This one the tapping starts about 9:30 of the video, and he gives good advice on how this works. Eric O. of South Main Auto is worth watching for all kinds of things. Fantastic channel for learning! Not a sponsor.
