Yes. the mirrors are manufactured by GENTEX, they are a UNIVERSAL mirror, and any one can be installed in any car. The ONLY difference is the mounting wedge on the windshield. There is an Ebay seller who has wiring kits for 30.00. As for the temp reading, you will need to have a specific temp sensor, which may also be available on Ebay.

Cheapest Gentex I could find that has everything, (homelink, compass, temp, & auto dim) is $299.99 from http://www.aaaremotes.com/hocoaumi50.html
I had to call to get pricing.
They don't carry the model like the Subaru mirror that has homelink, compass & auto dim. (no temp)

See my post from earlier in this topic (#15). The Mazda part is a Gentex I believe and has Homelink, compass, and auto dim and sells for for $214 from the link I provided.

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about here. The Electrochromic mirror with Homelink, Temperature AND Compass is indeed available for the Mustang as a dealer installed option from Ford.

Below is directly from the '06 Mustang Accessory Catalogue >>

All the fuss is the price. Ford wants $400 not including instalation.

The Mazda6 mirror doesn't include the temp sensor and from the pic doesn't seem like it's the same brand (Gentex) mirror that Ford sells.

Well, since it doesn't have a temp display, I'd have say no on the temp probe. I'm not sure about the rest of the wiring harness.

My Mazda6 came with the mirror as a factory option. I'm pretty sure it was a Gentex sourced model but I'm not 100% nor am I sure the dealer installed model is the same (although it looks exactly like the one that was in my 6 had in it).

True, but the description doesn't mention temp. I found this mirror on another Mazda parts site and if memory serves, this one is like the one that came in my 6, not the other one. I think the pic on that other site is incorrect.

It's the second one I posted.

Yes, that is a Gentex. The ones with the display below the mirror, instead of in the mirror are made by Donnelly. I am curious to know if the 2007 compass mirror is made by Gentex though, because if so, the wiring might plug right into the Homelink model. Probably not though, that would make too much sense and be too easy. I should be able to tell in about a week when my 2007 Vert arrives with the stock compass mirror. I plan on replacing it however, as I want the Homelink for my garage door.

The second one is the Gentex and it sells for $225. The first one has a pic of a Donnelly unit but I searched the Donnelly website and I can't find where they make a Homelink enabled mirror so it can't be the correct pic. That being said, either one should work in your car as long as you can get power to it and it has the correct mounting type.

Donnelly doesn't make a Homelink enabled mirror. Johnson Controls, the maker of Homelink and Gentex have a partnership, and they won't let the other competion (Donnelly) have permission to use Homelink. Once my Vert arrives, I will be installing a Homelink enabled mirror, and then selling my compass only mirror that comes with the comfort group package on the 07's.

That explains why I couldn't find a Donnelly with Homelink!

I found the Gentex on Ebay for $170 for the just the mirror and $210 for the mirror with universal wiring harness. I want to get one for my Escape, which has an OEM auto-dimming Donnelly unit.

If you just wanted Homelink, I wonder if there is a way to get the buttons that go on the visor, like on the Lincolns, and install it on the Mustang visor.

Quick Reply: Homelink mirror
