Hey All,

I had a question today about why my Mineral Grey V-6 comes with a black stripe on the rocker panel instead of the pearl white. He indicated (After calling Texas) that it comes as a result of ordering the charcoal grey leather interior....humh....I guess I'll have to live with that.

He also told me that although my order was "accepted" by the plant and indicated a "clean" result, it is being "held up" for the interior upgrade. Something he said the folks in Texas are trying to "work out".

I referenced the order guide dated 09/01 (Under timelines) and it indicated that Ford "expected" to produce 50% of the Coupes with the interior upgrade. I wonder if any of you have had any experience like this?

I also inquired as to the "X" plan. Since I had never heard of it before joining this forum. I'd sure like to meet someone who is a Ford emplyee or former employee.. (Sigh). Oh well, I just saw the Motorweek special on the speed channel. That was pretty impressive, but I do wish that they would have shown a few views of the V-6.

I really like the GT's and think all of you who oreder them will enjoy the heack of it. I never owned a GT, so I'm pretty "conditioned" to the plain grill. I have owned a couple of 66's though. One was realy sweet with pony interior. I wished I still had that car, I sold it for a song when I needed the money (Sigh)....

Anyway, I have really enjoyed reading the posts each day, hoping to see "the first" of us to ride the new pony.

Jim

I'm not sure about the "texas connection" only that all orders are processed there. Any questions about orderes are fielded there. I ordered from a Middle Tenn. Dealer.

MSRP-Very little discount..

I hate not knowing what "links" are involved in Texas, but I was told that the "Texas" processing center "works through" the orders. Just thought someone here would have a clue?

Man, this seems to be an epidemic among salesmen. It's either the result of ignorance, misinformation, or complete BS.

Don't let it get to you, Kevin!

I think they need something to tell people, so they come up with something false on the spot. Thats why I don't call my dealership too often, don't want them getting mad at me. If people weren't calling their dealerships going "wheres my car i want it now!!!!!!!1111!!!!!11oneoneone" then we wouldn't have all this info.

I'm not saying that "ponyman" did this, but i'm sure its true in a lot of the other cases.

Uh... they're havin' a problem with the flux capacitors.

Dude, isn't that for time travel?

Yeah, it's a new feature.

I think dealers are the bigest BS'ers that ever exisited. I wish they were all given some learning material by Ford, so that they could give people real answers.

I flat out did not call one dealership back when he told me that he didn't know anyting about a new Mustang coming out. This was only a few months ago. It's there job to know this stuff!!! :bang:

I've called the dealership twice in the past week. Both instances involved clarifying the order (stripe combination and wheel availability). I don't have a problem knowing the car is going to take some time, just want to make cetain I "get it right" with this car (I haven't with so many others).

Ponyman - I ordered my V6 Premium coupe with IUP last night and was told the same - backorder on the IUP and no promise date for when it will be resolved. The dealer says they will now have to wait till they get an allotment for IUP to put my order in. Bummer!

My guess is that many (more than 50%) of the 25,000 cars pre-ordered have the IUP and the factory is just running out of them faster than the regular interior packages. They will build whatever they have ready on the line to go on the car, when the car goes down the line. It's something that we will have to live with until more parts get delivered.

Regardless of whether or not its backordered, they can still put the order into the queue. Request that they do or go elsewhere. You'll get your car sooner.
