Hissing sound

Lately I've noticed a hissing noise coming from the rear end of my car. It is a speed sensitive sound that starts at about 15-20 mph and is a full volume by 35-40 mph. It is not that loud of a sound but sound a bit like a hissing snake.
I just put another coat of spraypaint on my brakes. I got a little on the rotors but it seems to have come off. Could that be the problem?
Thanks.

I don't think it would be the paint, if you got any on the rotors it would have come off almost instantly unless it was so much that it some how managed to glaze your pads and burn in to the material.

I think I will jack up the rear end and run it a about 35mph on jack stands. I can then possibly pinpoint where the sound is coming from.

Did you check for snakes first?

I just took my car to the dealer to have them fix a dash rattle (which they did successfully), and to find out what the hiss/whine sound is. It is coming from my ring and pinion. I have 4.10 ford racing gears installed and the tech says that they probably need to be reshimmed. The gears where fine when installed. It took a year to develop a gear whine.
I wonder if it could also be a bearing in there.

when i installed my Coffins KC told me that some of the 05s and 06s have a gap in one of the body seals and some air might pass through it and it is easy to fix with some foam but i would talk to him
