I have a used Airaid CAI and it looks... used.
I'd like to paint it, but it gets pretty hot under the hood. Are there any special paints out there I should use or any special prep work?
Would regular plastic paint work?

Use the spray paint meant for barbque grills, comes in your choice of colors too, as long as its black.

Black's fine, but how well does that stick to plastic?

Ive used auto paint one plastic, just put a coat or two of primer on first. You could try the Krylon Fusion stuff. It works really well on plastic.

Try the "Krylon Fusion" paint as a primer, this sticks to plastic , then spray on the heat paint. Krylon makes some of this as well, not sure what colors though.

Use the Plastic Adhesion Primer by Dupli-Color and any wheel or engine paint color that works for you. The engine bay only gets upto around 190 at the engine and the air intake is not hottest babe in the room by far.

Think about this. If its hot enough to melt the paint it will melt the plastic also.
