HID Fog Install. Help!
HID Fog Install. Help!
I just got some HID fog lights (H10) and I was wondering if it's supposed to come with any relay harness to power the ballasts. My HID headlights came with a relay harness that's connected to the battery and ground and then to the ballast so I figured the HID fogs would be the same way. What am I missing here? Do the HID fogs need a relay harness or does the ballast get power directly from the H10 factory connector?
Well it looks like I do need a relay harness to be connected to the battery and a ground to fire up the ballasts. I confirmed it by connecting my HID headlight's relay harness to the HID fog ballast and it fired right up. Just connecting the ballast directly to the H10 fog lamp connector won't fire the ballast. I went ahead and ordered a relay harness. Wish I had known this before buying the HID fog kit. Now I gotta wait again.

not to rub it in, but to offer help for others who have not yet purchased a HID fog kit: the HID fogs http://www.stangmods.com/ sell do not require anything more than plugging into the factory HID plugs..
I got the H10 HID kit to work! Woohoo!!! All I had to do was reverse the polarity to the ballast. It's my mistake not looking at the wiring carefully because my fog lamp harness has an extension due to having center mounted fogs. Well, the extension wires going to the factory harness didn't have its coloring matched up red to red, black to black. It was reversed so all I did was reversed the connector on the ballast and now both ballasts fired right up. Yeah baby! 6000K fogs rock!
