Hesitation on the 2-3 shift @ high RPMs
I think I am having a problem with the shifts on my Automatic 06 Mustang GT, and wanted to see if this is something that you guys are familiar with before I consider de-modding to see if the issue occurs in stock form. I’m getting a bit of a hesitation on shifts under moderate/heavy acceleration. This only happens under certain conditions otherwise the shifts are silky smooth. Under normal driving conditions or even at WOT this problem does not occur.
The problem occurs when I give the car enough gas to rev to the higher RPM ranges (4500-5000) before the car shifts. Just after shifting, I am getting what feels like a hesitation once the RPMs drop down to the 2800-2900 RPM range. This is the only hesitation I notice on this car. It’s a very brief feeling, not like the fuel pump hesitation I have felt in the past. It seems not to matter how much gas I have, whether I have just turned, and it is not related to a long cruise.
I had not noticed it until recently, but with me I pretty much drive either in old lady mode or at WOT so the problem may have been occurring for a while now. I’m wondering if this is something anyone else has experienced, if this is normal behavior when firming up the shift points with a tune, or if I need to de-mod and get the car checked out.
Thanks!
Tim
