Help from the audio guru's

I am posting this in several forums to get the most info that I can.

I want to hook up a universal HD tuner (Directed Electronics DMHD-1000) to my Shaker 500 (2007) and would appreciate some suggestions from you all.

1. I would like to mount the box (it is small, don't know the size offhand but it looks about 5" x 8" or so. Is there room behind the radio for this?

2. Where do you suggest I get the 12V switched from?

3. Where do you suggest I get the 12V constant from?

4. I would like to solder the connections, is there room for my big fat hands behind the dash?

5. Instead of using the FM Modulation, I can hook up the Audio Out with RCA's to the Aux Input. Do I have an Aux Input that accepts RCA's?

6. I will be drilling a hole into the dash just above the light switch (drivers side) to run the interface cable for the controller and mounting the controller there. Is there anything above the switch I will poke if I don't remove the panel when I drill, carefully?

I know I can see some of this stuff once I remove the radio (No's 1, 4 and 5) but I am trying to get as much info as possibly before opening things up.

Thanks,
john...

There's not much room in the dash. MAYBE below the radio, but it'll be tight. You might also consider under the console. There's a bit more room there. You can get your switched and hot 12VDC from the factory harness. While it's missing on many other models, it's still there on the Mustang. No RCA inputs on the factory head unit. Definitely pull the panel before you drill it. These dashes are predominantly assembled with spring clips, so you can pull it apart in minutes with few tools.
