Hey all. Been lurking for a few weeks, and appreciate all the great insights prior to finally placing my order on 12/3. Salesmen is a friend of mine and originally told me he didn't need a deposit. Called me this morning to tell me he now needs the deposit as Ford wants to ensure all retail orders are real, and not just dealers trying to get inventory. Also, price protection as they expect a price increase very soon. Will post more details if I get any.

Welcome! Your dealer is feeding you a line about Ford wanting to be sure the order is real rather than the dealer trying to get more inventory. Your dealer gets what it gets and Ford doesn't care retail or stock or whatever. I'm thinking your buddy was trying to help you out by not wanting a deposit in the beginning and then his manager told him go get a deposit.

I agree, I didn't have to put down a deposit. Each dealer has their allocation, they can use them all for stock or for customer orders, Ford doesn't care either way they are making the same money off each car.

Welcome aboard Don...... I agree that your salesman was trying to do you a good deed, and he was instructed otherwise. BTW......give us all some details on what you ordered.

You guys might be right about the salesman covering his tracks, although this will be the third car I have ordered from this dealer/salesman with deposit never being an issue. Either way, no biggie. Has anyone else heard about a price increase already?

Ordered 12/3

Satin Silver GT Premium with Dark Charcoal Leather
IUP
Active Anti-Theft
Wheel Locks
Bright Machined Wheels
Side Airbags

Welcome! I didn't put down a deposit as well. It seems these dealers are all over the board with how they are doing things. I didn't buy mine local, but the local dealers do require a deposit and I've seen a market adjustment for as much as $5000 on a V6. They can keep that coupe for that price. Another local dealer is only adjusting by $1500. Best of luck to ya and get it all in writing!

Automatic or Manual? I ordered Satin Silver originally, and this car is still coming in.....but along the way I had an opportunity to grab my Torch Red optioned out the same way. These were the 2 colors that I went back and forth on when ordering, and with the potential lawsuit over the MyColor portion of the IUP.....I'm glad I did......NTM, I love the Torch Red.
