Help! Ordered an 06 in June while in Iraq. A local dealer matched the DOD price on an 06: Vista Blue, GT Premium Convertible: everything except auto tranny (yuck) and trunk hog 1000 watt boom box. So I made it home safely and now I wait and wait and wait.......while weather gets cold and colder and coldest. What can I do as a consumer to influence the car build time? Any numbers I can call at Ford. Please help. The dreams of this car got me home. Now I want to drive!!!!!

Looking for aftermarket HiFi ideas; Ford audio generally sucks. Local stereo\ guy is salivating at the though of working on my car.....

Ask your dealer for a DORA, and then you can call ford's ERL line to get the status on your vehicle. Based on the fact you ordered back in June, you should be getting it this month. I ordered in July and I'm going to get mine mid october.

Here's my current update. It's now the end of October and still nothing!!!! No VIN number, no progress. Talked to the GM at the dealer. Now he attributes the problem to a shortage of five speeds, yet I see plenty of you with 5 speeds getting your cars. I am really pissed now but to order with another dealer, I'll be stuck waiting until spring. FYI: Terry Morris Ford, Burnt Hills New York!!!!!!!!
Any suggestions???

Even if he can't get you the car, you should be able to get your hands on the DORA. Your Dealer should also be able to tell you your priority number, 10 is the best (that a dealer can give), but any number may be as good to you depending on his orders (for example if your priority number is 40 and your dealer has no 10-39 then you 40 is as good as a 10) also, you need to know how many the dealer is allocated. if the dealer only gets 2 a year, it could be a while. My salesman ( Rick Miller, Crossroads Ford, Cary NC ) was able to give me a copy of the DORA, tell me my priority number, tell me they had 13 mustangs left on the way 3 of which were GT's 1 of which he sold 15 minutes earlier. If you can't get this info from your dealer, order from one of the salesmen on this site, Isellford has a good rep and appears to shoot straight.

Current update: two more weeks and NOTHING! Found another dealer who found the exact car but we're looking at a mark up above MSRP to get it!!!!

This has been a frustrating experience.

Gwinnett Place Ford

Get the phone# off of Ford website.....
I am sure if you call them you can get any GT at close to INVOICE...
I called them and they will take X-Plan with any of the 30 GTs on their lot.....
They have so many and most other dealers have not seen any.
So call them and get a GT at Invoice and have it shipped to yea at around $600 and still save around $2000...Take a 5 hour ride and get the car on their lot instead of waiting,,,look on their website and see if they have what you want.Ask for the Salesmanager and ask him will he sell yea one at INVOICE......JohnnyT

Here's my update. My dealer went to bat for me and it's being built this week. This is either the best week (everybody is happy) or the worst week (everybody is drinking egg-nog) to have a car built.....we'll see. But I should have it by New Year's. It's been one helluva wait. I'll post pictures when she arrives. Thanks for all your replies.
