Got a call bright and early this AM from the neighboring county Sheriff Dept. Our used '05 GT coupe was apparently stolen and found in the next county with all the windows broken out, the tires and rims gone, plus who knows what else. Our county fair started last night at the fairgrounds which happen to be next door so who knows at this point what happened. I will try to get some pictures if I can. I would imagine it will be impounded for CSI to look it over.

As the old song says "Another one bites the dust".

Bummer. I thought that most of the newer cars have a chip of some sort in thr key to prevent them from being stolen?

Why would they steal the tires? I would think Ford put most of their money in the redesigned engine. Stupid criminals!

PS I know they are the easiest things to steal, but common. You could find more worthwhile wheels to steel on the road besides a mustangs.

Ya...I'd be curious to know how they circumvented the chip in the key too...unless the keys were in the car. :S

No details yet. We have a lock box system which each car has a box on the window that needs a special key to open. There is no sign of broken glass. We have the spare set here.

Only 4 ways it could have happened:

1- slim jimmied the door, took off the lock box, broke it open and got keys.
2- someone left door unlocked so they did not have to jimmy it to get to lock box.
3- keys left in ignition
4- inside job [highly unlikely]

Car was parked on the concrete pad just outside our east showroom door under a floodlight so whoever did it would have had to be quick. Hope to have more details later today.

heh, knox box for a car.
Bad idea, obviously, to tempting for people just to tamper and try to steal when they know the key is right there!
were the keys in it when they found it?

We have been using lock boxes for over 15 years. This is only the 2nd vehicle we have had stolen off the lot and there have been a lot nicer/appealing cars than a used GT mustang over the years. I am sure it is not the lock box fault. Still do not have much detail about condition of car or status of keys when found.

Or a couple Rottweilers!

Reminds me of a really big tire wholesaler I knew in Montgomeryvill PA , had a huge sign on the gate "Beware of Alligators"

No dogs please they may scratch the paint. I vote buck shot. Make the theif hurt a little. But make sure it is before they get near the car. Pepper spray in their eyes would work too, and then they can't leave the lot.

Here are the pics. Not for the faint of heart. All glass was broken except for rear driver side glass. LF headlamp broken, left rear tail lamp broken, driver door screwed up as they tried to get speakers out of door. They punched a hole in the hood and took the shaker 1000 stuff out of the trunk.

State Police are here dusting it.

The guy stole a couple hundred bucks worth of tires and risked going to jail. He's a bright one. Guessing he wasn't one of the faster sperm.

Ouch!! You are right. Those pics are painful!!

I had a salesman from a neighboring town tell me that someone had "tried" to steal a 05 from their dealership but were not successful.

Did you say that was a GT? Looks like a V6, with the seats and wheels.
