Gt500 Video

I looked, but didn't see a link to this so not sure if it's been posted before, but I saw this on another forum site and thought it was just the coolest thing ever, even with the passenger. Hope you enjoy if you haven't seen it.

It was long... I watch the whole thing. Yeah, I probably would have kicked that passenger out the door and let the Mazda run over him. So, this is what rich people do with their GT500s huh? It must be nice. Wonder what something like that would cost, the track, not the car...? I know that I can't afford the car.

nice vid, yeah I would have pushed the passenger out the door about half a lap in...

It's not that expensive to run at the track, but you have to belong to the organization and be licensed to do so

I liked the video where Hau Thai Tang was driving better. I think that was at the same track. HTT didn't have a passanger like that.

QFT

I would have dumped him off at the furthest point from the pits and made him walk back as I passed him lap after lap, but then that's just me.

Most road courses have open track days of one kind or another. Nationwide many participate in the NASA HPDE program - go to www.nasaproracing.com and check the schedule for your local track. From Pittsburgh, Mid-Ohio is the closest I know of (http://www.midohio.com) - also Watkins Glen and Pocono are not too far off.

Generally it is around $200 - $300 for a one or two day event, depending on the exact event. For this you will probably get 3-4 sessions per day, each session being about 30 minutes long which will probably be 10-15 laps each. You have to wear a helmet and pass a tech inspection but otherwise your street car is fine. If you do HPDE, there will be an instructor riding along.

I did a track day with Panoz Racing School at Road Atlanta back in July, here are some pictures:

Planning on another in early December. It is a lot of fun, give it a try!

Kevin.

That guy riding shotgun did need a muffler alright but he was having fun!

Notice how the car was so nice and level through the turns. Ford did good on this one. Too bad dealers are gouging buyers.
