Are GT500 mufflers a direct replacement?
Are GT500 mufflers a direct replacement?
I have an '07 GT with stock exhaust right now. Are the '07-09 GT500 mufflers a direct replacement? If so, are they going to sound much different?
Up until the 2010 model year the GT500 used stock GT mufflers for an automatic - right off the parts shelf, same part number, nithing special about them.
People pay lots for GT500 parts that are stock Mustang parts. The side skirts are just the stock V6 sude skirts for another example.

a buddy sold his shelby, put it back to stock- gave me a bunch of stuff he was gonna toss out...i gave most of it to another buddy who had just rebuilt a wrecked shelby, but he didnt want the magnaflo mufflers, as he just bought a full exhaust...i went to look up the part numbers to see what years theyd fit, hoping to find someone to take them, was surprised to see the gt500 and base gt used the same parts- so threw them on mine
they are a little louder than stock, but not 'loud'... my buddies car though sounds wicked- think its got 3" all the way, x pipe, etc- he drove by a couple days ago, saw us out in the yard and revved a bit as he went by- my 5 yr old screamed "that scaawed me to def"
you can definitely hear his car coming...
