Ford has notified the dealers that they can only build GTs at 50% of production. Ford has also said the the Interior upgrade package can only be ordered at 35% of production. This means that Ford will build half of all cars as V6s and will force dealers to take them. This will definitely delay the production and delivery of some sold GT orders, as half of all allocation will be V6 regardless of order status.
This will make a GT Mustang even harder to get and is in line with what Ford announced in their initial build plans. There are just too many GT orders.

EDIT: This production restraint should not effect the delivery of already scheduled cars. Once a car is scheduled and has a build date, Ford has allocated the necessary parts to build the car. If your car has not been scheduled, this restraint COULD delay your car.

the hold on the GT's stinks..

But...since they are increasing the V6 production, does this mean they might start producing the manual V6's before the end of november?

I hope...

Don't know why they can't produce more GTs initially since that is where the demand is...

The GT hold is a CAFE problem, I bet... Too many GTs make CAFE sad...

But I am absolutely stumpified about the IUP hold. Why the heck would that matter? I would think, given it's extra profit, that they'd like it to be at 85% or something like that...

Or is that the IAC that's on hold? If that's it, well, uh, I'm still stumpified. *WHY* wouldn't you want them to sell?

Sounds like they have limited supply on some parts specific to the GT.

Same thing on limits on the IUP. Limiting IUP to 35% of production sounds like a big problem to me. I don't think many people will skip that option, unless maybe Ford knows some large institutional buyers don't want it. Even the order guide suggests 50% IUP, and that seems low to me, too.

I think the masses will not bite on the IUP, whereas the majority of us hardcore enthusiasts will get the IUP

I will definitely place my order soon, I want to make sure I can get my car.

This is SO not true.

You show me ANY, ANY proof Ford has notified dealers of this. I bet there is none. Ford does not call each and every dealer with "verbal" notices like this either.

BEK, first I want to thank you for giving us this scoop. Although it is bad news, it is better to know about it sooner than later.

There is one Ford sale down the drain. BTW, the 350Z is a nice car. If it had a back seat it would be on my alternate list. Good luck to you.

In the end, it doesn't really matter. People aren't going to get their cars any sooner or later by complaining about it. I know, that stinks - but that's how it goes. Ford can't stand to lose customers due to this sort of deal, and if they do lose customers, Ford is going to be really hurt. One way or another, I'm sure they'll find a way for each and every order to be fulfilled. And if they don't: they're idiots. Pre-sold cars are the dumbest things to mess up on.

About a week ago my dad, who works at a dealership, told me that my car was on some kind of material hold because of the IUP. He said that Ford sent them a memo saying that they were short on IUP. Maybe that's why IUP is only at 35%?

Great planning... sheesh.

Guess this means that the cost of a GT won't be going south anytime soon. Not that I expected that within the first year or so.

It is funny you say this because I have found your posts to be the most incorrect and you usually state things with such authority. :nono:
The info I have posted is absolute FACT. Of course Ford doesn't call us, they e mail a commodity report. I will provide the weekly commodity report published to dealers from the Regional ordering manager, the person at Ford who schedules all orders for the Mid Atlantic area.
