Group buy engine cover - what are you getting?
Now that the email is out for the group buy on the engine cover from Midwest Auto Gear, I was wondering what you all were going to order. For sure I will get the GT delete version. Lots of great historic Mustang emblems to pick from, there will be some cool versions created by TMS members.
Wondering about the color. Do you want the silver, black or matching color? I'm thinking about matching Torch Red on mine but not sure how that would look. The red under the hood is not clear coated so not sure I would like that shiny red cover under there. What are your thoughts on all this?

Since you've got the torch red, I would go with black. Add some chrome decals and you'd be good to go.
I have a black GT and I think silver would be the best bet. I thought about red fire with black decals. Still up in the air.

I ordered without GT and will be painting my own choice of a Silver Metallic to match the Cam Covers and Throttle Body.
My engine is cleared about 50-70% intensity of the body,
why wouldn't yours be the same? Anyway, I went for full intensity of clear on engine parts.
Your choice would be Torch Red or Silver and then paint the Cam Covers to match.

Bruce,
I guess what I was trying to say is it looks to me like the red painted parts under the hood are not as glossy as the body of the car. So you say that they are clear coated but just not as much so lower gloss? Is that what you mean?

I went with silver/no GT, to match the JLT CAI. I think it'll be interesting how people are going to customize this mod even further through decals, badges, what ever. Can't wait to see some pics!
I'm going to get silver, no GT, and put the running pony on it. Or maybe the GT badge from the sides, not sure yet. Might have to do some highlites across the top of the ribs with Sonic Blue though, just to tie it all together. Gonna get the C&L as well, I really like the way it looks and performs.
Drew, Yep you got it, thats how ours is finished. I would think yours is the same.
There was approximatly 1" X 1/4" spatter of spot weld on the passenger strut tower right in your face, which had to go, looked like painted over bird dropping. Plus scattered chalk around the battery. I knew no one was going to take the **** care I would to refinish the areas. The Satin-Silver alone did not have near enough gloss in it to match. So I also used Gloss to match up. Beauitful blend job!
Although bay is not near the depth of body. But my painted engine parts are.

Screaming yellow with GT DELETE, adding the black powered by ford decals, and either the chrome running pony or the 2005 GT fender emblem...still undecided on that one.
Please post pics when you all get them, I would love to see how each person has customized it to their own.

I am going with the GT delete and painting mineral grey. Might get some other parts like the valve covers painted too.
