GPS Map updates

I recently updated from 8P to the 10P GPS map for my factory Nav. Unlike the 6P to 8P change, which was a big improvement, especially locally, I see little difference in the new one. As an oddity, while traveling back from upstate NY last week the tracking actually lost its way on rural roads and had me paralleling the roads by a quarter mile or so! At the next intersection I stopped and recalibrated the map and it has been OK, since, but I just wonder about that. I haven't had to do that since the initial installation over 3 years ago. Has anyone else noticed that phenomenon?

I haven't updated the maps on my 07' GT mostly cause its $200 and that seems a bit steep since Google maps is free. Is there any real difference u can tell after the update?

I originally had map 6p and the change to 8p was significant, at least around my area. Many of the roads were "yellow" and the nav would quit giving turn-by-turn directions as the "maps were incomplete", but when going to 8p all were now confirmed and complete. I haven't seen much of a change going to 10p, but I've only been on one trip so far.

Shop around on eBay, you can often get the latest maps for a lot less that the MSRP. If you go back a map or so (like getting 8p or 9P now) the savings can be huge, like less than half price.

You can download the image file torrents from PirateBay, then burn to double-layer disc.
