Got rear ended over the weekend (pics)
Well guys this is what happened I was going down the freeway about to exit when a car comes out of nowhere and plows into me. I made it to the exit and parked my car on the service road. When I got out of the car I saw 2 guys running from the scene and 2 girls running frantic around their car. It turns out that the guys were in trouble with the law and fled on foot. The car was insured but now I have to deal with the mess. I had to get the car towed home because it would not start and later found out that it was because of a broken clutch sensor that i must have broke on impact. I dont know what to look for at this point so any suggestions would help. thanks

Lousy luck. I just got mine back from the shop last week after getting rear ended about a month ago.
Mine was about $1700 of damage, the shop did an excellent job and lucky for me that the guy that hit me's insurance covered it all. I could not drive my car after the accident as the trunk lid was bent and could not close.
Just be glad you were not hurt. Now it is more an inconvienience on your part to get it fixed. I feel for you!
be sure to get a good shop for the work!

Thanks guys, I finally got a hold of the insurance and I'm taking it to the dealership to get fixed tomorrow. Both of my mufflers have bent tips and the back end of the muffler is also dented in. Do they fix the mufflers or do they just replace them? I'm also looking into getting the GT500 rear bumper, I need to look up some pics to see how it looks on a black car.

Been there, had it happen to me in 2006. Luckily for me it only the rear bumper and trunk lid had to be replaced. Hope you o.k. Hope the culprit gets caught. Where I live stopping at a yield sign to avoid oncoming traffic is were most accidents happen.

Well the dealership told me its going to be atleast 3 weeks to fix it. They said they are going to have to replace the rear floor pan and that they will get back with me by tuesday to let me know if the frame rails were damaged. I like the way the CS bumper looks, I am going to talk to the dealer and see if I can get one. I want to try and get all the info together before I go back and see the estimate. Does anyone know if they can fix the mufflers or is it better to just replace them? I don't know if there is any damage to the inside of the muffler, any thoughts? Thanks

With the replacement cost of the Ford Factory mufflers (which is what the insurance company will allow for), have the dealer/body shop order some Borlas or GTAs instead. They should be able to do the GT500/CS rear bumper cover as well. Pretty much an even swap in terms of cost. If theyare going to get into frame rails and floor pans, make sure they have a qualified tech and the proper frame machine to do this type of work!

I finally got the estimate today and it came out to 2175 without the mufflers. They are going to send it off to a muffler shop to check out my x pipe and replace my mufflers. I decided to upgrade to the gt/cs bumper so I'm having to pay 160 bucks more since they only allow 175 for the replacement of a refurbished bumper. BTW the guys that ran from the scene both got tickets for fleeing the scene of an accident
