Good Bye Motorcraft 2 Piece Plugs!
Funny, just over 91K miles on my 05. 4 of the plugs spun free (Snapped), but I had to take a rubberized tool inside and bend them until heard a crack so I could use the tool. That tool made it an absolute breeze to get them out.
I soaked them yesterday afternoon, backed them out a 1/4 turn last night and soaked a little again. Blew them out this morning with some air then snugged them up and backed out another 1/4 turn and let them soak as per the TSB. But gave them a good hour. Still broke 4, but the new plugs are in and I feel much better.

Champion 7989. They are platinum so they should last longer than the Brisk. If they are in fact silver then it technically should be a better conductor but I doubt there is that much difference.
I just changed my plugs at just under 30K and everything went smoothly!!
Went with OEM Motorcraft 2-piece for now. May change later on, but these came out suprisingly not too hard.
Mine weren't quite so good. After about 6 miles car ran like crap and I discovered here's why: SUC52282.JPG
Got an email to the supplier to see what he's going to do about this as I brought these back in December and put them just a couple of days ago.

Called Dave Renault of Federal Mogul (Champion plugs) in Ontario and he went the extra mile (good will) and arranged to have the defective plug replaced at my point. RockAuto and Federal Mogul in the USA weren't much
help and don't appear to know the definition of "good will".
I installed a set of HT-1's in my 05 GT this afternoon to replace the OEM originals. Nothing broke and it took me about 30 minutes to do. I used the brake cleaner on each plug after I got it a 1/4 turn out and soaked for about 2 or 3 minutes.

So let me get this straight... we STILL have no viable replacements for those POS 2 piece spark plugs?
I have 75k miles on my 2005 with the original plugs in.
I am TERRIFIED of touching them, although I am thinking I need to because I am getting spark knock now with 87 Octane gas. (I have to use 89) I think several years of running Doug's tune (87 Performance) has helped out in carboning up the chambers.
What to do? What to do? Brisk? Champion? What is this "Rubberized Tool" nbk13nw refers to (I mean the one used to remove broken plugs?
)
I am not a happy camper.

one piece have less chance of snapping...correct?
I dont think I have ever seen a two piece plug before.
Also it looks like I need a different gapping tool...??
I always steered clear of Champions before and cant really remember why....
Maybe cause I drove a GTO and we used AC Delco....I dunno. Cant remember.
Are those good plugs?? Or is that like asking what the best oil is? lol
