Now there is no arguing that the GT IS faster and handles better, but unless you are test driving it on a track or you're willing to risk a ticket and/or PO'ing the salesman; you're not going to be able to push it hard enough for the extra performance to kick in.
you gotta be kidding...

I ordered my GT after an awesome drive in a V6. The six was a fantastic car and if that is all I could have gotten, I would have enjoyed it. HOWEVER, I LOVE driving the GT and am glad I waited and did not have to spend club meetings, cruises and shows slapping my forehead going wow, ......

Well I'll let you guys know what happens. IF, repeat IF, I do get swept away and have to buy it, it will probably be year or 2 (that's when they get rid of the model lol) before I can. If I traded in now, I THINK I COULD afford it, but I would be dangeruosly close to my limit and don't think I want to do that right now. Hell I'm lucky and amazed I have what I have now in the V6. I'm a youngin at 19.

Besides I'll be testing autos. If I got a GT, I'm sorry, it would HAVE to be manual. I'd just need to practice on my buddies car first.

By the way, I strongly recommend you test an automatic '03 or '04 Mach 1 if you can find one. Very nice torque - will change your life!

I like the looks of a car over anything else. And, to be nice, Mustangs have been supped up sedans that just carried the badge through the years since the late 70s. The 2005+ S197 is the first actual mustang since then. Just my opinion. I 100% respect yours though.

Looks aside, take a drive to feel the torque!

I love the S197 body style too.

My perfect combo - the SN-95 Mach 1 motor in the S197 body.

As an aside, when I bought my first manual transmission car, I had only practiced for several weeks. The new Mustang's hydraulic clutch and shifter placement makes a world of difference in drivability. Perhaps you can get a chance to practice some before you make your future purchase!

"IF, repeat IF, I do get swept away and have to buy it, it will probably be year or 2 . . . "

Same logic I used when I test drove a GT. And then I drove another, and another, and 2 years became 2 months and suddenly, one was parked in my garage. Go figure!

One of the strongest tools a salesperson has is the test drive. A buddy of mine at work will go look at a lot of cars just for the heck of it, but won't drive any of them, unless he's ready to buy.

Oooh believe me, unless you drive like my grandmother, there is a very noticable difference between the V6 and the GT. You're telling yourself you're happy with your V6 now, but after driving the GT you WILL find every excuse possible to trade it in and take home the GT. And wait, the fun doesn't stop there. Ooooh no. Then you'll begin to think of ways to mod it. It'll start small...like maybe buying a plenum cover to help dress up the engine compartment...and before you know it you're sig will look like mine with a ton of mods. So my advise to you is "resistance is futile so give up and hang on for one fun ride"
