Ghost Town
yep, pretty dead... one other Ford forum i keep up on has been really slow too. winter blahs i recon.
the 15s started hitting the local dealers- saw a bunch 2 weeks ago, checked under the hoods on the two that were open, still see paint flaws, bet the bubbling will find another decade of Ford buyers to upset.
the 15 interior/visibility is great, love the smaller mirrors- plenty big to use, but the triangle in the window is almost gone- really slims the A-pillar from the drivers seat. still not a fan of the styling outside- dont hate it, just dont want it... the 05 was a 'love at first sight'. the new ones do look better in the real world than under the glare at the auto shows, but still not anything exciting to look at to me- we all have our favorites styling wise, mine will remain the 69 fastback followed by the 05. kinda glad i dont care for the 15, nice not having a car payment this past year...although maintaining too many cars/insurance is still stooopid expensive.
mine will be 9 in a couple weeks, still as fun as the day we picked it up- still love the looks, love the sound/feel of driving it. We did have a fun trip this summer- I drove the 06, the wife her 07, two older kids got to share driving chores, two younger ones just rode along... was first time i spent any hours in the back seats, they are really pretty comfortable... even slept back there a couple times as younger ones rode up front, while big brothers cruised... the older boys really had a treat on some of the mountain roads... just under 6000 mile round trip out west, really really really enjoyed that drive... man theres some beautiful drives out there in Colorado especially- i could go again
I imagine the forums will pick up after Christmas, winter blahs start turning into upgrade time, holiday rush fades...
I scraped the bubbles off the wifes 07 and the 09 hoods (still pissed at ford- the 09 has 4 miles on it- grrrrr) acid etched / rustoleumed the wifes, still need to remove the hood/tip down, POUR paint inside to try and seal inside/between layers, then same for the 09, and repaint base/clear on the undersides... her 07 was sooooo close to the edge, another week or two the top woulda been blistered too... the 09 was just two quarter sized areas, but still, its bull**** that ford did such a lousy job on such a otherwise great product.
mark my words- by next year you will be reading about bubbling 15 hoods. the first one i opened up musta had a cup or more of water inside the hood- soon as the latch was pulled, it started pouring onto the headlights from the front/corner holes, then when lifted it gushed out at the cowl end drains... this was afternoon, it had rained that morning- maybe it got washed there on the lot too, who knows- but it was holding water... the dealers lot was near level, id say nose down maybe 2" max... drains in wrong locations, iffy paint, i see bad things with mustang hoods on the horizon again

the morning after the '10 reveal I called and ordered a 09 identical to my basic 06 gt deluxe... flatbedded home with 3.2 miles on it, never been on the road, just moved around every few weeks, sits under cover in the garage, i drive the same car every day, so dont 'miss it'...just extended my 06 payment for a few more years
when the 06 hood bubbled, then the wifes 07, it sucked but wasnt that big a deal... but when the 09 hood started bubbling (car has only seen water twice when dealer washed it, and when i washed it 2 years ago) I was about as fed up with Ford as a person could be... still love these cars, but ford need to quit doing such crap work on such otherwise great products. a decade into it, they are still doing a crap job on the hoods. I need to find another dealer(last one was getting kinda upset with me pointing out flaws under the hoods) and take a camera next time i look at 15's...

Car is winter hibernating, and bought house few months ago so been busy & spending on that rather than the Mustang. Also got early start to ski season, woot woot! I still come through but it's not a daily at this point
I'm glad the faithful are still present and accounted for! Considering our Ponies are getting up there in age, I thought most of us would have moved on to newer ones, or (gasp) OTHER CARS like minivans or something...
My 2005 Pony is 9.5 years old, 117k miles and still going strong! Stone reliable, and I am still happy! Love the interiors of the new ones, wish I had that in mine, but I think the 2005-2009 "retro" design is still the best looking exterior ever!

in a week, my 06 will have its ninth birthday think i'm around 70,000 miles IIRC, still as much fun as the day we brought it home...the 5800 mile 'out west' roadtrip this summer was 10 mustang days I'll never forget, mine overheated for the first time ever, puked a little water after shutting it off- just seconds after going over a pass and rolling into the little town of westcliffe colorado- shoulda ran it a few minutes to cool down... and the wifes 07 (~25k miles) picked up a nail when we got back into ohio- had a plug kit, was back on the road in 5 minutes, didnt have to resort to the tempaspare (moreso the issue of cramming a fullsize tire back in a loaded trunk)...aside from those tiny issues, the two mustangs did wonderful on the trip, we were all comfortable, and the two older sons got to cruise the mustangs thru some of the prettiest roads on earth... what a trip... love these cars
Still hanging out here, my 05 is at 78k miles and 10 years old with an october 2004 build date.
Had a rocker fail last year and addressed it with a timing chain/VCT rebuild and a new oil pump. Everything's running great and the oil analysis looks clean and back to normal.
Just finished converting the interior from Gray to Black through painting, swapping OEM panels and some reupholstering. Thinking of a centrifugal SC next summer.

Q: How do you double the value of a Chevy?
A: Put gas in it.
Q: How is a golf ball different from a Chevy?
A: You can drive a golf ball 200 yards.
Q: Why are there sidewalks beside streets?
A: So Chevy owners have a safe place to walk home.
Q: How much wood could a GM*truck haul if a GM truck could haul wood?
A: As much as the*Ford*towing it.
