As of yesterday, I am now the proud owner of an '05 GT Premium Coupe. It is Redfire with Dark Charcoal and has an automatic, IUP, side air bags and machined wheels.

Is it okay to give myself nanners ?

I had a Mineral Gray GT on order with X-plan at another dealer for the past 8+ weeks and was informed the other day that delivery may be as late as July! With a priority code of 45, I was beginning to wonder if I would really receive it before build-out for the model year. And I was having second thoughts on the color.

Thanks to a post by 3RD1, I found my car at a dealer about 50 miles from my home that had just received an unsold GT that day. The General Manager there said he wouldn't X-Plan it, but would sell it to me for $50 under MSRP. I felt this was fair considering how scarce these cars are right now. Other dealers around here still want $3000 over MSRP and claim to be getting it.

I decided to go for it! It had about 16 miles on it before I took it on the freeway for a 2 or 3-mile test drive, trying to vary speed and RPMs. I drove the 50 or so miles home doing 55-80 mph bursts as suggested by some for break-in.

As noted by previous posters, the IUP on my car is missing parts. The two brushed-finish door sill plates in particular. No big deal--dealer is ordering me a pair. Better that than missing the MyColor! Everything else present and accounted for.

I'd better stop posting and start driving !

I'm considering the same thing. Ifound a redfire gt at a dealership here, the only thing is that it's 1000 more than the one I ordered because it has the shaker 1000, but no side airbags and is redfire instead of black. I don't know, it'll probably be gone before I can make it over there Monday, if it's not sold already. I'll probably wait for the one I really want.

 

Jim, Congrats on the new stang. Don't feel bad I gave in also after 4 weeks and I couldn't be happier. Consider yourself lucky being able to find one you like on a dealers lot, it is not easy.

Well I am glad that you enjoy your stang. They are definetely worth the wait!! I say :randy: to the Ford dealers who are trying to mark up the cars as much as $5k. I have the 5 speed and is you love doing smokeshows like I do :bunrout:, then it should be a very long lasting relationship, so enjoy! I am in love with my car and I'm sure you mwill be just as obsessed as I am! Enjoy!! :horay:
