Gauge Lights

Has anyone ever noticed that Ford added alot of lights to our guages and half of them do not even work? I was looking at my friends 05 standard interior guages and when he puts the key in the ignition and turns the key then steps out there is a little car light that has the doors open to signal that there is a door open, well i have an 06 with the IUP (MyColor) guages and it does not light up when i do that, the messege just pops up on the read out that there is a door open. I can see the outline for the light but there is no light coming one. Also i know there are many people on this site that have noticed the arrow pointing at 4 on the tachometer, i do not think anyone has seen it light up but every guage i have seen from 05-07 has this outline for the arrow but no light. The GT500 has the light up SVT but we got the short end of the stick. What is up with Ford and all of this, cant they just make it cheaper for themselves and make the same guage light set up for the standard and IUP (MyColor) set-ups? i wish i could have the shift light turn on once in a while, i know it was annoying for the 03-04 Cobra and GT500 people but for the guys that have never had the experience it would be awesome to have, even for the time that it keeps us interested and then we can ask our tuners to turn it off or basiclly set it to a very high RPM so it does not light anymore. Just my thoughts on this

I would much rather Ford put it's money into something like the Global open windows problem than to have them add a bulb for a dummy light that is already taken care of by the message center.

And I had that shift light in my focus... it was just annoying and unneccessary.

The interior componants (as other things on the car) are made to be interchangeable between V8 and V6 as well as the different trim levels available on the stang.

Both cars use the same dash/gauge cluster.
Your buddy doesn't have the IUP with the message center - therefore his doors open symbol lights up

You have the message center which gives you a spelled out message and a tone to let you know the door is open. Since you have the message center, you really don;t need that simple symbol lighting up.
