Hi all,
Ok, everyone knows about the gas tank problem by now, right? Anyway I went to a local Ford dealer to have my GT's tank swaped. I heard the job takes 2 hours to complete so after waiting there for about 5 hrs, I went back to the tech to take a peak and I could still see the car on the lift and the new gas tank was installed at this point. However I saw him with this long piece of tubular metal and I was like I know that can't be from my car, their was an Explorer next to GT. So I go back inside and ask the lady in the service department what is going on. In the mean time walking around on my cell and the lady comes out and says I am gooing to put you in a rental car thinking this is only due to the wait. So when I get off the phone and went to talk to this lady, she hits me. She says when the drive shaft was removed there was some part that came off and would not go back in and they had to order a new one and it would be here until this Tuesday.

So in short, the car is locked up at the dealership on a lift, no drive shaft and the new 20's I just got put on Thursday. So I will be driving a loaner Taurus until then. I did get a free oil change out of it, but I was really looking forward to being in the stang this weekend.

So to all, be careful and make sure the tech knows what the heck he or she is doing. :bang:

That stinks. I would be so pissed if I were you, but what can you do? :bang: :bang: :bang:

They probably gave you a sedan for a rental, too.
Equal car of equal value should be something that goes beyond accidents. It should include morons at in the service department.

I wonder

-how fast a Taurus will go?

-can one do a burnout in a Taurus?

-would a Taurus make a good drifting car?

hint hint

I was to upset to ask questions and I to fly out of there to make it to work on time, but let's just say I had to test the Taurus limits.

I wonder why some cars have the tank problem and some don't. i have had my GT since 5/21, and not had a signal problem.

Fritz, Silver "05" GT Coupe IUP and everything ...

Because alot of issues were fixed before you got it.

It's luck of the draw. Not everybody has all the problems outlined in the TSB's. So far all I got is the strut issue, everything else is a OK.

The gas tank issue happened to me three or four times back in January/February and hasn't happened since. Maybe heat and humidity cause it not to happen.

Put a plastic cafeteria tray under each rear wheel and use the e-brake. Fun times abound until they wear thru.

you're lucky they didn't "fix" it and let you drive off with it. I had a torn CV boot replaced on my Accord a few years back. Of course to replace the boot they had to take the axle apart. I get 1/4 down the road and stop at a light. I gas it when it turns green and I hear a loud snap and crunch and the car stops moving, the engine ran fine though. My axle had snapped cuz they assembled it wrong.
