I'd be curious to see how many went out the door on one of the plans. But that's just me, I do see your point though. IMO people on this board seem to be pretty well educated on how not to get taken so I would think those that paid over sticker would be few and far between. At least I hope so!

Z-plan BTW see my sig.

I'm curious about the two who paid 10K+ over MSRP. I'm wondering if that 10K included dealer-installed extras like tires/wheels/stripes/nitrous ( ) or if it was pure dealer profit?

Hey Charlie, I've read this thread with a mixture of frustration and amusement. It's as if some people didn't even read the first post! I think the idea for the thread was very interesting. However, it seems people can't pass up the opportunity to brag about what a great deal they got on their car! Why is that?

I still wonder if some people know the difference between cost, invoice and MSRP. It's spelled out plain as day in the price sheets Karpro has been kind enough to provide.

In a related topic, another dealer in Richmond ordered a car for me using my personal contact information. I suppose they were trying to avoid issues with Ford in case their ordering practices were audited. HISTORY: This dealer appraised my Audi A4 while I was shopping for a Mustang GT and gave me a relatively low trade-in figure. No surprise there, dealers aren't especially generous! I eventually ordered a Mustang at another dealership. However, by that time, the first dealer had already ordered the car I spec'd "just to get it into the system." Their logic was that I would accept the car, and take my lumps on the trade in. One of the reasons I didn't want to deal with them is they refused to give me a written purchase agreement and said a deposit was not required. The other dealer accepted a $500 deposit and gave me a signed purchase agreement.

Well, "Lucky's" clone recently arrived at the dealership. They called to tell me that my car had "hit the ground" and I told them that I had already purchased the same car from another dealer. I thanked them for their time and effort, even though I wasn't happy with their ordering methods. We both agreed that they would have no trouble selling "Lucky's" clone.

Guess what? They added a $3,995 "market adjustment" to this car! I was surprised because it seemed they hadn't done that for quite a while. The GTs that had been on their lot a couple of months ago had no market adjustment. Although, they were the first dealer in town to apply the market adjustment when the GTs first appeared on their lot. Apparently, they went back to their old ways!

I'd be interested to see if anyone bites...

Well, I was trying to make a unique poll... there are plenty of threads out there about who paid X-plan and got deals. With all those markups out there, I figured I'd make a poll for the other end of the spectrum - those who paid over MSRP. Those who were actually paying these markups.

(scratches head) Being that this is the third time I've explained this, I don't see what's so tough to understand about this...

Thanks for the kind words, Celtic... some people really need to READ the thread before they post, lol.

Cool story.

Because I panicked, I now have two orders for the same car. My original order, c/u since 1/17, I am told will ber serialized soon. This is a straight MSRP ($32,785) deal plus tax title and license. OTD is $35k for GT vert premium, no auto, no shaker 1000.

Same car, ordered out of Florida and serialized the next day (last week), has $245 Ford price increase, $599 Florida Dealer Fee(?), and $250 drop ship fee to my local dealer. Technically, this car will cost me $1094 more than MSRP with the fees and price increases.

Maybe those THREE guys are yanking your chain because they find the premise of the poll to be crass and trailer trashy. Just a possibility...

Oh man, Mark... I was just trying to create a poll for those who went to the other side of the price spectrum (and there are obviously those out there that did pay over sticker or the dealers wouldn't be marking up the cars).

I am not mocking anyone. I am not acting crass or "trailer-trashy." It was simple human curiosity. I saw how many dealers were marking the car up. Naturally, I wondered how many people were actually paying these prices. Therefore, I created a poll on a popular 2005 Mustang forum for those who paid over sticker. What is so hard to understand about that?

Perhaps you got shafted when you bought your '05 and your bitter about the deal, Mark? heck, I don't know.

The lack of maturity on the internet can be quite astounding. I've explained the purpose of this thread clearly five times now. Let's see how many more times I'll have to calmly and clearly explain (as if I was speaking to a child) it again. Sheesh.

(shrugs) I just get tired of explaining why I created this poll when I already explained it four times before. Starts to wear thin.

I don't see why you have to be nasty about the poll... if ya don't like it, don't vote in it, lol. It's not hurting anyone.

For some reason a bunch of people on this board have unusual hostility toward those who paid over sticker... either calling them stupid or blaming them for the high price of 05's (or both). In addition to that, most folks don't like to admit that they paid more for something. I don't think some here realize that for those who didn't order early or have X-plan connections, it's pretty hard to find the 05 GT you want, period... nevermind getting one at or below sticker.

I had a GT on order that looked like it wasn't going to come through this year. Mineral Grey isn't available in 06, so for me it was an 05 or nothing. I found one on the lot that I wanted, and had to pay $2100 over sticker for it (they were asking $5K). I'm not happy about paying more, but I did get the car I wanted.

Well I frankly do not believe everyone is telling the "WHOLE" truth about what they paid.

Like "They paid off my trade-in. The Mustang was stickered at an extra $1300 for stripes and wheel upgrades. I financed thru FMC. But I drove a hard bargain, and got the $1300 wheel/stripe package for only $500. I saved so much I was able to buy the ESP and 5 year guaranteed wax job with my savings. Wait till I tell the guys how I saved $800 off sticker!!!"

I'm not saying they're all like that - but I also have enough faith in supply/demand economics and dealer greed that I don't believe everything I read on the internet about the "deals" everyone got.

Because there are so many variables at play (trade/price/loan rate/F&I hustles), it's pretty hard to compare deals on the internet.

I'm happy for everyone who got a Mustang they could afford - ESPECIALLY if you got a genuine discount!

And I'm sorry for the smartass remarks I made in your thread.

Somebody is paying over sticker! Judging from the SoCal dealerships I've been to everyone is! None of them seem to be willing to take an X plan either. "Not enough GTs, too many V6s" in the product mix they say.

I won't pay over sticker. So as of now I don't have a 05 GT either ;-(
My X Plan is good to December. I can wait.

Well the average market adjustment for the GT in California is $5500 over MSRP! I know people are paying that but on this board with everyone "claiming" that they got all these great deals nobody wants to raise their hand and admit that they paid more than MSRP. I ordered my car in December waited 19 weeks until delivery and paid MSRP and was happy to do so.

I paid $27,100 for my car, $775 under MSRP. I think I was lucky and in the right place at the right time, since the dealers around here are going back to charging "market adjustments." I'm neither ashamed of paying too much, nor am I bragging about paying so little. I think I got a fair deal. It obviously sat well with me!

Putting down a nice chunk of change at signing made the deal very easy to live with as well...

I'm using X-plan but, after waiting 15 weeks & still hearing "clean & unscheduled," A little over MSRP sounds like a good deal to me!

I bought mine thru Overseas Military Sales while I was in Iraq. Paid $23985, $4155 uner sticker and $1393 under invoice. Can't complain about those numbers.

Yes, I read the first post.

call it bragging or being proud, whatever, but warning others to keep looking and not get "pony wipped" and pay over is the main reason I posted the first time.

this may be the only thread potential buyers read about pricing and I would hate for it to leave the impression that you have to pay above the MSRP.

BTW at this time, anything below MSRP is good IMO.
