If they work on 05s I will buy it for sure. I thought Kevin the parts dealer had tried this years ago and it wouldnt work. I think he got the key itself to work but the remote part was a no go.

I tried it a few months ago with my '06, and the remote part did not work. I did not have the key cut, so I didn't try it to see if the ignition worked.

If anyone wants my key, I would gladly sell it for $35 shipped to your door. (extra few $ for canadian shipping) It has not been cut, and is brand new. I don't have the original packaging for it, but there wasn't much there anyway. Anyone interested, PM me and let me know.

UPDATE: Sold the key a few days ago, sorry guys.

From my research, the Fusion Key will only work on 07 and 08's. Ford must have changed the transmitter/receiver for the keyless at that time. I know for a fact it will work on 08's and I've read people who have 07s on other forums that use the same key.

It seems the key will start the ignition on any year, but the remote will only work on the 07 and 08's, I guess this is try at your own risk. I didn't want to screw up another ignition so for me it was worth it.

Also I went to home depot to have the key cut and they wouldn't because it has a chip in it (it's liability because they don't want to screw up a $100.00 key) So you might have to find a place that will cut it anyhow.

I'm bummed about it not working in an 05, since I need to order new FOBs since I broke both of mine off the keychain

just go to a locksmith or whatever if home depot wont do it

How much did it cost to have it cut? I think dealerships offer this service but they're going to charge a pretty penny.

Thanks Dustin.

Yeah Ford is doing that for the new Lincoln MKS. It sounds cool as hell but I whats the longevity of something like that? Lets put it this way the dealer I go to for service is right next to a Mercedes dealer and every time I am at the dealership I see at least 3 60K+ Mercedes being brought in on a flat bed. Makes me think that the more complicated things get the less they will work

I have the keyless system you mention in my Mazda CX-7. I love it. It's great when you have your hands full to not have to fumble in your pockets for a key or remote. Or in the winter when I have gloves on and can't press those tiny buttons. Best of all, to lock the vehicle all I do is walk away.

The Ford Mondeo and Focus in Europe have this option. And Volvo has this option in the US. So the technology is in Ford's parts bin.

I suppose they could have changed the RKE module for 2007, but I didn't find any confirmations that the IKT will work on a 2007. Starfire's account is the first I have heard of being able to use it on a 2008.

I can't testify to that, but the remote for my 2007 is a bit different than my 2005 remote. I mean, the shell is the same, but the button icons are different. So that tells me they probably changed something for 2007.

That's odd... my 2007 GT's fob has a 2002 part #

Yocum Ford said the integrated keyhead transmitter (IKT) for the Fusion/Edge won't work on 2005-2007 Mustangs.

For all we know it could have been half way though the 07 model year they made a change, but it definitely works on 08's

It looks like the 7L2Z-14A626-BA remote keyless pad works for 2007-2008 Mustang/Fusion and 2008 Edge.

What is the likelihood the RKE portion of the IKT will work on the 2007 Mustang?

Since I got my Mariner, I now have two vehicles with keyless entry....and it is a serious pain to have two key fobs on your key chain cause you always mix them up...not to mention it makes the keychain very bulky...i would like to see some kind of intrgation with the key and the keyless entry mechanism to eliminate this problem

Codeman what I did was purchase an extra remote and program it for both cars. "One remote to control them all." Works pretty good.

I looked over the 2006-2008 fusion owner's manual very carefully and apparently the programming methodology for the transmitter does NOT exist. Instead, when you program the new IKT PATS for the Fusion, it automatically programs the transmitter. It would appear they are on the same circuit.

On our S197s, you have to program the PATS separately from the transmitter. There's a possibility the 2007 Stangs can take the IKT since 2007-2008 Stangs use the same keyless entry pad as the 2007-2008 Fusion.
