Fusion Key for Mustang

Well I just wanted to clear this up since I couldn't find a straight answer on this. The Fusion key works perfectly on my '08 GT/CS. It seems it works fine on 07's and 08's, but that's it. Had the key cut at Menards, and got the key on Ebay.

The Fusion Key will only work on 2007 and 2008 Mustangs.

NOTE: The keyless entry and ignition key have to be programed separately, both instructions are in your owners manual!!!

Questions?

I was just on e-bay and looked at the keys.

Did you have any problems with programming them?

And, do you have the active alarm system? I am curious if the active system will allow the use of these keys.

This is a great find, on your part. That #$%%^%& remote dangling down is a pain, so I have it on a key chain that separates. The Fusion key solves all my problems, if it will work.

Thanks.

Yes I do have the anti-theft alarm. Programing was done just like described in the manual. On my old car I had enough crap hanging on my keychain that it screwed up the ignition and I don't want that to happen again, so now it's just the Fusion key.

This is very interesting! A remote key fob intregrated with a key for a Ford. This should already be offered on a Mustang. It doesn't make sense that this and Sync are not offered on the Mustang at the same time they are available on other Fords. The Mustang is an important iconic halo car... Things like this should not have to be worked in later...

I did notice that the new Camaro will offer a remote flip-key as evidenced in spy pics. VW has had these for years.

do you have a link to the ebay? also, programming keys is described in the mustang's car manual?

i answered my question:

http://search.ebay.com/search/search...key&category0=

it says its in the owner's manual but two working keys are needed to program it. the auctions don't say it will work on the mustang but it obviously works on yours

Very cool find. So whats the total cost? Are there various keys, so that remote start will also be integrated in?

Can you add more details as to what is needed.

It would be kinda cute if Ford made a flip key the shape of a pony and the tail flipped out for the key blade... LOL!

Which one did you get? Since the auction is closed can you post a link to the one you won?

This is the key I bought.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWN:IT&ih=006

All you need is that key, and your two pre programed key. The instructions are in the owners manual on how to program the remote part and also how to program the key to start the car.

Everything works perfectly, all the buttons. You can program up to 8 keys to a car.

I looked at the 2008 Fusion owner's manual and they gave instructions on how to properly start the car without damaging the IKT (Integrated Keyhead Transmitter) or pressing any of the buttons accidentally. It seems like a lot of trouble, but it would be a neat mod for a 2005-2008 Stang. FWIW, the latest foreign cars like the Aston Martin and Mazda use keyless ignition systems. You just keep the key/fob in your pocket to open your doors, trunk, and push the START button to start the engine. The key isn't required at all.
