Fun with the Traction Control Light
Whenever the road is clear of traffic I like to see how often I can get the traction control light to flicker on. I only mess with this when there is no traffic about, but it sure is fun. Especially more so now that it's wet out. I've got the light to stay on solid for 2 seconds while accelerating hard in 3rd going in a straight line. The rear wheels were happily spinning on the wet pavement.

From a stop I gave it full gas right after it had rained. Yeah...that TCS light didn't go off for a good 5 seconds. I think after all that time I was goin about 40. I love this car.

i was on wet pavement and i thought i was going in a straight enough line to test the TCS. I was in either 2nd or 3rd, and i nailed the throttle pretty good and the rear end must have kicked out about 1 foot to the side. It was enough to put the fear into me, and to remember to still respect wet pavement.

I've noticed that the TCS on these cars must be pretty intelligent. On dry pavement in a straight line, it will let the tires spin pretty good before it kicks in. In wet, it kicks in with just a little wheel spin. And if you punch it turning a corner, it gets real aggressive with it, applying the brakes and everything, it gets you under control quick!!

Yes it also starts pulling timing out of the engine also. Its really nice system over what I've experanced in a 93 T-bird and my SVT Focus.
Have to see how she does in the snow when I get some

The old Traction systems pulled timing out of the engine. However with the electronic throttle that is no longer neccessary. The computer simply throttles back.
It's light years better than the system in my friend's 02 Camaro.

We're not quite as dry as Dubai, but we're close out here in the Eastern Washington desert. 7" of rain average per year.
But, as you guys mentioned, I also found out that the TCS came on the other day when I was a little too aggressive around a curve and the auto shifted from 1 to 2. On the straight, I've never gotten it to come on even with chirping the tires on the 1-2 shift pretty hard.
