Yea, but that is a one sided 'claim' from an unnamed 'source'. Our SVT customers love us, they just dont go online and rave about it.

And why exactly did you pay full price last time you went to best buy? People lay down for a 50% margin on electronics and a 800% margin on clothing everyday, yet female dog and moan for about 3 or 4% on a car.

Only cars have this reputation, where you can actually get money off its list price, and in the meantime people lay down for everything else they buy like sheep. THEN act like they got ripped off on the CAR while talking to me in the showroom with $150 Nike's on. Nobody ever worries about resale value on the TV they just bought that will be outdated in 2 years.

When every day they buy a pack of smokes, a starbucks($5 coffee, what do you think the cost is per cup of that?) Mc donalds, maybe a 7-11 stop for some snacks, and say a few stops to the machine for sodas at work...
I agree with the above to an extent, but your argument is a bit spurious because you're comparing apples to oranges: The items you're listing above range from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars - well within most people's budgets and not something that strikes them as a lot.

Automobiles are TENS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS, a big chunk of money all at once, as well as being a depreciating asset. THAT'S why people try to get as good a deal as they can.

well in another way of looking at it-

I pay cash for my household crap- from Tvs to furniture to appliances on down. I don't deal with credit on that stuff, so I don't care, it belongs to me. If I want a coffee, or I want to go to get chinese for lunch, I am paying CASH for it. It's not a BILL.

With a car- I(and most others) have to finance, because I aint driving a kia around-and yes, I can afford a car payment on a car that isnt made of scrap metal. Therefore, I don't enjoy getting cornholioed when the time comes around and I have to suffer the Hades that is called the car dealership.

Well, the my dealer has been great, besides emailing me the order form for the GT as opposed to the Mustang GT. I called him up and he listened to my request. He didn't have all the answers, but took the time to learn more and call me with the answers (atleast the info. Ford has provided). I'm not sure if I'm in some sort of risk in getting my car, but he didn't ask for a deposit. I offered, but he said it wasn't necessary. He even told me that when it comes in, we can test drive it. If we like it, we can take it, if not, then there's no obligation. He checked the order bank everyday for my build date and vin# and called me when he had it. He calls me once a week to let me know of any new updates. I've been to almost every Manuf. dealerships and so far, I'm the most impressed with Ford, or maybe this particular Salesman! Maybe he knows it's a sold car when it comes in? Thumbs up on this one! I think we should be a bit more fair in regards to stereotyping! In my line of business, there are good ones and bad ones alike.

I am also fortunate to have a really good dealer. Plus, Kevin and BEK have been extremely helpful to me in figuring out things along the way. Its nice to hear that there are other positive stories out there. A toast to the good guys !

Actually, if you can afford to pay cash so easily, it would be more ideal to get a credit card, pay it in full, earn free gas (like the BP Amoco card) AND increase your credit score.

Either way, I never understood where car bargaining came from... I wish they would sell all cars at their listed sticker to make things fair, easy and feel-good. The bargaining process is what makes car buying such a hassle (even if you find bargaining fun).

I hate paying sticker, but if everyone did it, then there's nothing to hate about it, know what I mean?

Hades is paved with a two way street. Did it ever cross your mind that maybe you're the one who makes it a horrible experience. "OOOHH, the horrible, evil, car dealer is just waiting around all day for for me to come in so they can rape and pillage me." Come on.
I have been in this discussion a hundred times so I am not going to bother trying to explain the car business or what really goes on.
But, in brief, you can't expect to pay invoice, IE. cost, and have a dealership be able to afford to pay quality, loving, kind, knowledgeable, enthusiastic salespeople who are available to kiss your butt whenever you decide to grace their business with your presence.
If you don't like car dealers than please, by all means, stay away.

Bingo. It's not the dealers who want to fight about the price.
The main issue is that there are to many dealers. The manufacturers put one on every corner thinking they'll sell more cars. All it does is cut the same size pie into smaller slices, creating the need for cut-throat sales tactics.
People who lie to dealers when buying a car doesn't help either.

I have never walked in and said I will pay this for that car. I have always walked in, fell in love and drove off. The ONE time I tried tricks, I got burned. Lesson? Take your punishment, and drive off happy.

My post was not directed entirely at you. I get angry at some of the things you say about dealers. I love cars and sometimes I love my job as a car dealer. But, I have spent my whole career being treated like a criminal. I have learned to let it roll off my back. Believe me, I have grown thick skin. Sometimes it does get to me.

Well then PLEASE sell me a car!!!! Everyone I have dealt with in Alabama is a snake- I have not exhausted ALL of them yet, but I am getting close. Its aggravating. The only positive experience I had was with GM. Thats sad, because I don't even like GM anymore.
