I really don't know what makes ford dealerships such a black hole for common decency.

AMEN!

I don't like the fact of things you HAVE to have are a pain in the crack to get. Slithery snakes they are...

I'm in Chattanooga and would be more than happy to assist anyone in buying a new or used vehicle.

At the store I work at, I have seen other sales people give some of the most incorrect information I've ever heard! One sales person told a poor girl that the black cladding on her Edge Ranger had Chrome underneath if she wanted to go with the chrome look. Its amazing what some guys will say just to make a sale.

I have been at the dealership for over two years now and I have to say that our GSM has worked hard to get rid of those kinds of people. Now, if theres a tech question, they are told to come to me. If I cant answer it, I find the answer.

The one thing I guarantee all my customers is that they are treated with the honesty and respect they deserve.
I have also sat in the Mustang 05. I was very satisfied with the seats and the space in the front seats. My only complaint was they didnt start it or let me drive it. It was a pre production version missing a few details. The mirrors looked like they would fall off. There was no trunk release button, but the style is gorgeous.

If I can ever help anyone in the Chattanooga or surrounding area, please dont hesitate to notify me. Ive sold cars to people in Prattville Alabama, Bridgeport, Boaz, Chattanooga, Atlanta, FT Lauderdale, Mauldin, Knoxville, Summerville, Rome, and so on.

I've had issues with salesman treating me differently because of being female.

Back in 96 I was looking at the Sunfire, wanted to test drive it and all that jazz. Went to the Pontiac dealership to go check it out. The salesman would just keep talking about a Grand Am GT. Told him I was interested in the Sunfire, but I guess there were none on the lot :notnice:

So, I test drove the Grand Am GT. Nice car, but was still out of my price bracket. He then we ask me dumb questions. Just kept asking me.. "what color do you want" I told him "As long as it gets me to point A to point B and if I'm lucky, it'll take me to point C, then I can be baby puke brown for all I care."

He even let me take it home overnight and he came waaaaay down on the price.. I would be getting this car for the price of a Cavalier. When I returned to the dealership, bright and early the next morning to return it.. he was shocked that I didn't except it. I told him that it was his pushiness and him treating me like I don't know anything about cars that did it. And walked out.

Had some more bad treatment at the Lincoln/Mercury dealership too This was a couple years later. I wanted to look at the Cougar. The one in the showroom was locked and not one of the salesman came over to me and ask me if I need help... or even just a simple "HI" would've been nice. On top of that, they were looking at me like I was going to steal the stereo equiptment.

The salesman that I walked up to was rude and seemed to not want to deal with me. Later in the day when my mom and dad went with me.. he treated them the same way.. and my Dad is a designer for FoMoCo .. bad move buddy.

I had a HUGE downpayment to put on the car and he lost out.

ive seen sales people try and steer you to the car they want to sell you. alot of times theres a bonus for selling that car or some other spin.

if someone tells me that they want to look at a car, i take them to it. one thing ive learned is that most salespeople are so ego driven, they really think they can talk anyone into what they need to sell. i went to look at a cobra once and the guy just kept trying to sell me a Gt mustang. I finally left and bought what i wanted at the other dealer.

some people just dont get it.

The VERY horrible operating out of a closed gas station and other assorted slummy buildings tried like hades to get me in the mystic cobra- nevermind that it was about 15k out of my price range.
The 05 quest has taught me to be afraid, be very afraid.

This isn't about sales people persee but it is about Ford customer relations. While I was getting my car detailed and rubbed out = $60, ten year old car looking brand new =priceless

I was reading what I think was the new Motor Trend and there was an article about luxury sedans, anywho they took the Jag XJR to the dealership for routine service and a clanking noise, and got it back + 100 miles and an empty fuel tank, without the problems fixed!

ford relations with SVT customers seems very strained. it seems like all svt's that are brought in are put under a microscope to check for abuse. one guy told me he spent an hour making sure there was no rubber in the wheel wells of his car so he didnt get accused of racing or spinning his tires too much.

don't broad-brush all sales people with one stroke...just like the rest of us, there are hineyholes and decent folk. i will say this, though: you're going to THEM, not the other way around...that may sound simplistic but it sets the tone for the interchange: they have something you want.

my advice: don't even bother talking to a dealer about product info, especially FUTURE product info...remember, they're in business to sell the metal that's "on the floor" not what may be coming down the pipe in a few months. also, when the car comes in to the dealers, take the car for a testdrive and see how it feels. when you come back from the drive, DO NOT talk price under any circumstances...never...strictly a no-no. don't bring up price at all...if the salesman mentions sitting down to strike a deal or talk about price, get his email and conduct all negotiations over the net, this takes away his comfort zone, to a certain degree. tell him you will be contacting him after you get home and go over the options and pricing info you have. at that point you should be walking out the door...either with his number or email...but either way don't stay.

once the test drive is done, it's easier to this consumer, to conduct the transaction over the net or the phone. jackg 90seville 95k
Exactly... He wanted him to buy an 04 that day. Come October or November that salesman will be bragging about the quality of the 05. If he doesn't he's not much of a salesman. lol

There are a lot of people with SVT's that whine too much as well. It becomes reactionary for service writers, when customers come in and tell them what needs to be fixed because they are now internet and mail-order bolt-on mechanic 'experts'. A lot also want to mod their cars beyond manufactuer's specs and expect them to be fixed for free when they break.

Maybe we can connect out there one weekend when the '05s come in, and see for ourselves. I'm looking forward to the Vancouver Mustang Club's Pony Show at Spanish Banks next month, though!
Im going to the spanish banks show,i talk to Peter Bulcock (president of gvm) and he said show is gonna be hugh. Now the bad news...no 2005 stang gonna be there,he tryed to get ford to have one on hand, but they said none would be on west coast durning that time.Im thinking fords really dropping ball on this one...i mean there is gonna be thousands of stang lovers from west coast here, and ford could of really helped sales by bringing one up (dumb move ford!!! ) Anyways lets hope we get good weather for show :-)

Rule number one in sales is "sell what's on the back of the truck", meaning, sell what you have in inventory, not what's coming out new next month, next year.

If any salesman told you "yeah, man, don't buy the 2004, the 2005 comes out in a couple months, just wait", his manager would probably like to have a word with him. Now, once you say "I am not interested in the 2004, only the 2005", a good salesman will listen to your needs, and try to win you as a customer, ensuring that you buy the 2005 early and through him.

If you are like a few on this board who couldn't care less about the new chassis, styling, interior, etc., and all you want is a motor and tranny and a decent handling platform, then the salesman could talk you into the 2004 instead of the 2005 and everyone goes away happy.

I've got to admit that I'm very disappointed regarding the negative attitude toward salespeople in general and the sales procedure in particular. The saddest part of it is that many of these so-called sales professionals bring this upon themselves. Luckily, the rude ignorant ones usually weed themselves out of the business in time. It's truely unfortunate that some customers experience these low-lifes before that happens, but you don't have to. Find a different sales rep or dealership if you have to. There are actually people out there that DO CARE! We're out there! The whole sales experience shouldn't be just about "the sale" it should be about a satisfied and happy customer. That in return means repeat business which is what it's all about. I am proud to be part of a dealership between two larger centers on Vancouver Island that benefits from customers from both of these areas because we are knowledgable, competative, friendly, low-pressured and bad spellers.

Like Kevin and BEK (and others) I am only too happy to show and refer customers this site. Knowledge is power. Helping to make an informed decision is what we salespeople should be all about.

Unfortunately crappy salespeople have given other GOOD sales people a bad name......
There's actually good salespeople out there? Funny, I thought they kind of HAD to lie to make most sales... I don't think the word "good" and "Ford salesperson" should be used in the same sentence.

When I went to my dealership in Oakville to put my deposit on a 2005 gt, I almost bought a 03 gt to tide me over until the 05 came in. The salesman, Allan, stated that while he'd love to sell 2 cars to me in 1 day, I'd be taking too much of a hit on the 03 when my 2005 came in. He took my 05 order and deposit, advised me to be patient and sent me home. He calls me every time he gets an update on the 05's, and saved me a ton of cash I would have blown. If anyone in the Toronto area is thinking about buying, check this guy out at oak-land. There are great car salesmen out there, its just a matter of finding them.

This is one of the few times I've wished I were Canadian.

Seriously though...My closest Ford dealership is literaly 500 yards away from my house. I haven't stopped in yet, but you guys have me thinking. I really hope they treat me right. I'd hate to give an out of town dealership my business with this one so close by.
