Argh, I just spent August in Taiwan and of course this comes up after I'm back home. Where did you order it from?

I received an email from this seller from Taiwan telling me that this flip key don't work on 30% of the 2005 mustang so he is not advertising them for this year. If any 2005 owner have this key, please post it here.

I have that exact key for My 06. My car was built in October of 05. When I go the key I couldn't get the remote programmed for my 06. Evidently there was a motherboard change which would not work. So he sent me the old board and it worked. So far it works fine. As far as programming the key goes aslong as you have the two preprogramed keys you are set. If you only have one key then you will have to take it to the dealer to get it programmed.

I have the same key for my 06 Mustang. It worked for a couple of months than started to act up. It would not work at times, I thought it was the battery. I replaced the battery and it did not resolve the problem. These are are cool looking keys, but the quality is cheap.

The quality of mine is not holding up at all. I get tired of the blade set screws coming loose jamming the key so that it won't flip open. I literally had to force it open so I could secure the screws and put some locktite on them. Regardless of the set screws, I also have a problem with the key not flipping open when I push the button. Yet when I put the damned thing in my pocket closed it always manages to flip the blade open. So much for the novelty of having a flip key.

Do you got the key from this same eBay seller? When the key didn't worked you contact him and he sent you a new transmitter? Any information will be really appreciated.

They didn't have to cut the key because it was longer, but a lot of paces turned me away because of the lenght difference. I finally got it to an Ace hardware and they cut it, they just weren't 100% sure it would work. Like I said though, it works fine and no complaints. Although I don't use the key all the time I still use my original set some too.

I got mine last week and stopped by the locksmith to cut it today ($5 for the service). Tomorrow I'll program it and see if it works on my '06.

I was able to program my key no problems, but the remote won't program for some reason. The seller suggested trying a new battery first - so we'll see tomorrow if that helps.

build date on my car is April 2006 BTW.

Jim that is what mine was doing. It would work on My 02 and my dads 06 f150. I even took it to the dealer and they could not get it to work with the car. Once he sent me the old style board it worked.

I heard from him just a little bit ago and he said he will refund my money or send me the other board like he did for you BeeBop. So I guess I'll try the other board and see.

I am also wondering about this. I am working on a keyless push button start and need to find a way around the transponder key in my 08. These have a programmable transponder??

I have this key and it works for my 2005... mostly.

I sometimes have to press the unlock 5-6 times before it recognizes the command, but once it works once, it is fine for that usage (so I can hit the other buttons and it will recognize every command). Lately it has been working a little better, but it is still not perfect. My car is a weekend driver though, so I don't use it a lot.

There was much discussion that was lost with the forum crash about these keys. There were several people that were using them fine with 2005's, but they needed the "old" board, that may or may not be avliable still.

Email the ebay seller and tell him you want to try it anyway, but you want the "old" board, it may work fine. Just use the keyless part for a while and try it out before you get the key cut. If it does not work then sell it here, I am sure you can get most of what you paid for back.

I went by home depot but they said they would ruin the key cause its too long and it starts the cut at the end so the distance to the throat would be off. How did you solve that?

Also does anyone have a keyring attached? DOesnt look like there is room. on the end.
