First full day of having the new car wife and I went to Outback for dinner to celebrate on Saturday. I just had washed, dried and went over the entire car to get it looking perfect.

Parked in the Handicapped spot the first one right in front (yes we do have permanent handicapped tags) and noone was parked on the other side we went in to have dinner.

When I took it home and parked it in the garage I found the hood and windows full of fingerprints from people getting a little too friendly with my car. :notnice:

Would I consider this somebody going to second base with my new girl?

get a window seat and hit the panic button when someone gets a little too close, that's always fun.

"you know you have an 05 mustang when you go to a restaraunt without a line, but you wait an hour for a window seat so you can watch your new stang"

I woulda gotten my detective friend to fingerprint my car.

And Steve, I also have a handicap tag. Not a plate, but the tag that you can hang up on your rearview mirror when you park it. I broke my leg/hip/pelvis really bad years ago, and it's hard to walk far distances. I am only 27 and get some dirty looks from older drivers, at least until they see my tag hanging up. But I can tell you that it comes in handy with the new stang. I actually never used to use it before. But now I will not park anywhere but in a handicapped spot. Not because it's closer, but because the spots are wider, especially if you can find a van spot with the 4 or 5 extra feet of striped space.

And of course, I always sit where I can see it. The only time I can't is when I go grocery shopping. And I worry like crazy, believe me. But so far, no dings, scratches or even fingerprints. Many times I have come out to a group of people standing around my car. I'll never forget the time I came out of the grocery store and a guy was standing next to my car (not touching it) and smiling while his girlfriend took a picture of him and my car with her camera phone. Now that was funny.

Ian, Don't even give it a second thought of people giving you "looks" because of your age. I have been having to deal with it all my life because my wife and I have been disabled all our lives. I look healthy but have a very noticeable limp. Try being a teenager or early 20's I always get stopped because I don't have the mirror thing and they say you shouldn't be parking there until I direct them to the permanent tag on the rear of the car.

Haven't had to park in a narrow spot yet. I guess I'll be a nervous wreck.

Unfortunately the only Outback around is one that was something else in a shopping center that they converted into the restraunt. Not one single window faces the parking lot.

I got the factory anti-theft but I am unhappy with it. But that's another story.

I remember the day I bought mine. Oct.22nd 2004

I was walking back out of the dealership and there were a good 15 people looking at wanting to buy it... it really pissed them off to see only the second '05 to be released in Florida owned by a 24 year old! LOL

I made sure I ripped through the gears when I left.

I chirped the alarm the other day when I came out of the grocery store and birds were sitting on the bumper picking bugs out of the grill. They moved out pretty fast.

Ian....I also hardly ever used the handicap tag my wife has because she is blind. But when we got the '02 GT vert, it sure started to come in very handy. And like you said, we get some strange looks from other people in the parking lot, until they see the tag hanging also. But we are all car nuts and want our toys to stay in the best possible condition as we can. And when the wife and I get the '05 in a couple of mouths I will even take more care. I will hardly ever drive it to work, because most people do not respect what others have. The '02 was backed into at work one day and the fool never came in and told me.......and everyone knows my car. So when ever the wife and I are out we always use the handicap parking spots.

LOL. I'm sorry but if I saw something like that I would be flipping out. If it happened at home I would be going at them with a .410 (anybody remeber these?)full of bird shot as they were flying away.

No I would not be carrying a gun to the grocery store.

Yesterday, while at lunch with the girl, we were sitting at a window when I noticed a couple of teenagers peering inside my car and checking out my wheels. They seemed to be really focused on my lug nuts.

I hit the horn button on my key chain and they took off like a bat outa hel. Good thing I have locking lug nuts. I have known a few people to have had their wheels stolen.

If only I could rig my car to shock people when they touch it, like a capacitor.

Nick

Take one of those boxes they use for cattle fences and connect it to the car running through an AC/DC converter. Wire it somehow to the alarm disarm. It won't seriously hurt them but it will give them the "shock" of their lives.

I had numerous scratches and face prints on the windows from the very same type of thing the other day while parking at Safeway far away from all other cars...- OUT OF CONTROL LOOKIE LOOS.... :bang:
Three scratches - on each pillar and one over the driver door handle 5 inches long... I nearly screamed...(okay I did scream)... especially since my car is black...

I was able to buff them all out with 2 hours of rubbing though... and they are all GONE ...
