Finally got my '07 Torch Red

She's finally here after 5 long, brutal months of waiting. I snapped some photos of her. Will post more of the wax job and Hurst shifter later.

Cochise - looks nice and glad to see the rain stayed away Enjoy - there's nothing like the feeling of a new car, the driving impressions, smell of new leather, etc. You are going to have that Mustang grin non-stop for the next several weeks

Just had to add that 5 months of waiting is NUTS!! That's almost 1/2 a model year - curious did your dealer tell you 6 - 8 weeks when you 1st ordered? Was there a "special reason" that your order took so long? Ford has a really broken ordering system - way too complex and I can't fathom why they would make you wait 5 months and others get theirs in 1 to 2 months....that's terrible service - almost as if the dealer and/or Ford are trying to discourage the ordering process. I mean, I've seen all the reasons here on the board - but none of them sound legit or make any sense...just because you happened to support a smaller dealer - you are penalized - that's nonsense! Ford is lucky you were so patient - most folks aren't!

Would not part of the wait time be due to ordering the car before the '07s were actually being built? I don't understand that length of time otherwise?

Tuco - actually that's a good point....I don't know when Ford starts the building customer orders for the next year models. I wonder who in the forum got the 1st '07 and what date that was

To be honest, I think it was just because it was a small dealer. If I went to a larger dealer that sells 150+ cars a month I would have got it sooner. The wait stunk but I'd rather give my business to a small town dealer where I was treated like a king than a larger dealer where I'm just a number (not to say every large dealer is like that of course). She's here now and that's all that matters. Any word on yours, HOTLAP?

More pics as promised. Anyone thinking about the Hurst shifter? It's sweet! Everyone that looks at my car comments about the shifter. Received a couple of comments on the chrome exhaust tips. I think they are a nice touch. These pics are after a Meguiars Gold Class wash, Deep Crystal polish, and NXT Generation polymar wax. Check out the ominous sky in the background. We didn't get a drop of rain if you could believe it!

Big Time congratulations COCHISE

I can't imagine waiting 5 months. I would have gone nuts.

The shifter and the tips look pretty good. Until I saw the hurst shifter in person I was going to stick with the stock one. But seeing one today and now yours, I think I'll put the Hurst one on when I get it. Was it difficult to do ??

I highly recommend it. It's pretty sweet! As far as installation, I had the dealer do it. They ordered it for me about one week before pick-up, it was shipped to them, and they installed it. That way I had it in when I first picked it up.

Cochise - those pics look nice! Just curious - what did your dealer charge you for the shifter install?

I hear you about waiting longer by ordering from a smaller dealer - but you would think that Ford would deliver customer ordered vehicles based on their order date (barring any production delays/scarce parts, etc.) and give the larger dealers priority over stock replenishment....no customer should be penalized because they ordered from a smaller dealer....no word on mine yet - I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a delivery this week though .....enjoy your new ride - I bet you're going to be staring out the window at work all day - just waiting for day's end to get her out for a spin

What other mods are you planning besides the Hurst shifter?

They charged me $97 to install it. The shifter, tax, & shipping ending up being about $250. I've seen them in the CJ Pony Parts catalog for $195 or maybe "05stangkc" has them in stock for TMS members.

No real mods planned other than the engine cover and aluminum pedal covers. I kinda like it old school...nice and clean with nice clean lines. Not too much bling, if you know what I mean.

I hear ya - I'm the same way appearence wise - but performance wise - that's a different story I've driven my '05 a couple of times now that it's back to stock and it just doesn't have the same spunk that it did with the JLT II / XCal CAI & Tune and Magnaflows....still trying to figure out how far I want to go with the new GT/CS - may have to go with the RoushCharger B4 it's all said and done
