Factory Ford Plenum...on fire
Factory Ford Plenum...on fire
Hey guys , heres a shot of my personal factory plenum, this is the first ford piece we have done. High quality part, was a pleasure painting. Email me at hireman356@aol.com for pricing info for paint jobs on your covers or painted covers directly from me. Remember , we do ALL factory basecoats with fire or many other designs. And as always , the pic doesnt do the apperance any justice at all. Click here to see the designs we've done so far. www.uniqueautomotivedesigns.com/id71.html

thanks,
Bill

Hey Hireman, any advice on removing the pony? It seems to fit in there pretty tight and looks tough to mask. I'd hate to break it, but I am wanting to paint the cover the same color as my valve covers and want to keep the pony chrome. The fins and lettering should be easier to re-paint. Help?

OK, this makes me want to get back on the SHOW mods. I was gonna spend my next round of mod money on GO, but WOOOOOOOWWWWW!!! I'm thinking Perf White base with blue flames/pony. Match the cam covers - bam!!
Ok, the pony did come off without damage, but not as easily as I had hoped. I used dental floss and a very small screwdriver, but having the feet already lifted helped some. The rubbery glue is strong as an ox and difficult to remove. Water didn't help, and "Goo Gone" and "Oops!" weren't that great, either. I did, however, find out why my pony was kicking up his heels. The clear filler poured into the back of the stamped aluminum wasn't level. It was a little concave at the top, and bulged out at the feet. Now I'll just sand or cut that down so the whole horse lies flush into the recess. I'm going to try to do the fins and lettering in aluminum vinyl. I'll post pics when I get done.
Edit: Forget the aluminum vinyl. The sheet it came in was a perfect size, but had the grain going the wrong way, so the brushed effect would go across the fins, not along them. Duplicolor Chrome paint applied with a foam brush did almost as well.
