I wonder really why they dont make them black. The one I have on my Explorer fits on my license plate frame - they said it could not use the regular transponder because the signal could not go through the windshield. The one that is on the plate frame is black. I suppose I could paint the windshield tag, but then from what I read you will be charged for "defacing" the tag. Got to do something because it sticks out way too much with the dark interior on the car. They do make tag "holders" that are black, but they stay on with suction cups.... anyone use them?

I hold mine up when passing thru here in IL. I am not putting that ulgy white thing on my winshield although painting it then sticking it up there isnt a bad idea.

Can it be put on the area behind the mirror that has the "pony" tinting?
any other ideas on how to mount the thing without it looking soooo out of place? Wish they came in colors, and not just white.
I am also wondering if the dotted pony tinting will allow the transponder to work.................
yep, mine is in the dotted area toward the left.

Mine is centered above the mirror mount. It is wrapped in black sign vinyl. (Illinois)

Yea, I use the black tray with the suction cups. the EZ pass slides into a kind of black "slipcase" that has one suction cup on each of three sides. I've got it just under the rearview mirror and it pretty much blends in with everything else. I'll post pics tomrorrow

I finally ended up wrapping it in black "sign plastic" which I got from where I work. I took off the original white/clear velcro and replaced it with basic black. Put it behind the mirror on the dotted area.....think so far so good at least it does not look weird on the car. Will have to see how long it lasts in the heat and all, but I can always re-do it.... may order one of those suction cup gizmos as well................

Hi neighbor,
I actually didn't read the rules and regulations from EZPass and just painted the rear black, OOPS! I also have that suction cup clip for it and it blends right in. Picked mine up on eBay.

Nice Vista btw!

Thanks.. like the sonic blue too... I ordered the suction cup thing yesterday. at least it is removable. I attempted to use velcro, but it loosened up after 2 days... leaving sticky residue on the dotted area behind the mirror. Was able to get it off with some GOO GONE and my fingernail. (whew!)
Dont know why such a simple thing as mounting this EZ pass is making me nuts. I just can't stand the look of it on the car. Of course if I leave it in the console and take it out when i need to use it, I know I will totally forget about it and get charged $$$$ by EZPAss. better to have it installed then pay that fine. My dad slapped his up there on the windshield on his new Alloy v6 and I just cringe looking at it!!

I have an EZ-Pass, but I don't mount it to the car. I leave it in the center console, and put it on the dash just before I go through the toll plaza.
