EXTREME BILLET HOOD PROP HINGE(opinions?)

did a search, didnt find anything...got a heavy 'glass hood (heavier than usual- bolted the shaker to it), worried about gas struts bowing the hood...saw these hinged things from UPR (not thrilled about UPR) that looked viable, just wondered if anyones using them/opinions...
Also curious as to how far forward they fold- my shaker airbox top is taller than the original airbox lid.
Questions- do they lock at lift/unlock at relift (like a old corvette hood prop), and do they rattle- they look long enoughthat I'm curious if they would wobble around when the hoods closed.

heres a link if you havent seen them before:

thanks for any input

Tim

QuickLIFT systems work with any hood (steel, fiberglass, SMC, carbon fiber etc.) - we design our systems using the stock hood so the main market is covered, however, our systems are made to work with 99% of aftermarket hoods. No extra parts are required. Read our FAQ for more information...

I would drop them a line just in case, but they make the best kit out there.

Those prop rods are like the ones NASCAR uses. You have to pull them forward to close the hood and push them back to keep the hood open. They should support the weight no problem. I like the Redline cylinders they are longer so the pressure is lower but the leverage is better. They work great on the stock hood if you're not afraid to drill holes.

I was looking for a old original set of the forward mounting redlines, but all the ones I see are now the short ones that mount on the hinge bracket...still, my hood is pretty heavy with the blockoff plate/aluminum scoop and added 3/8 gasket and added steel backing plate.

did some reading on these, sounds like might be the way to go- thanks.

On the hinged locks, hard to believe noone in here has them. does make me wonder if the old corvette locking things could be used...a friend of mine had a 66 vette, always thought those hood locks were about the neatest Id ever seen...
