TPMS Wheels

Do stock mustang wheels made for tpms have holes in the wheel? Here's an example....

Is the hole made for the tpms band that goes on the inside of the wheel?

Im guessing that is what makes them damaged. Those holes should not be there. I know that sometimes for international shipping it is much cheaper if the part is used. So they drill holes in the part to give it that status. Maybe that has something to do with it. I would be asking why they were drilled and get a professional opinion if you are thinking about buying them.

Nah, I was looking on craigslist for a custom set of wheels and came across these and just got curious.

If Id have to guess, those were scrap wheels stolen from the company that made them. theyre not scrap because of the hole, the holes there to make sure if someone steals them they cant put them on a car!
the wheels we make all go back to the customer to be reprocessed back into forgings, but over the years other customers (think they were castings) required parts be 'damaged' ('rendered unusable' might be more appropriate). Ive seen scrap tires with the beads notched for the same reason.
aircraft parts are similar. heck we even took air-arc to some machines we scrapped so competitors couldnt get ahold of them and rebuild...

I would stay far, far away from those wheels. just a opinion of course

Wouldn't welding that throw the balance way off?
