Does anyone know if the ford extended warranty plans are worth getting? I drive about 22-23,000 miles a year, and at that rate my factory warranty will be burned up in probably 1 1/2 years. Does anyone know how much like a 3-5yr 60k or so extended warranty would cost, or if it's even worth looking at.

I know these cars are solid, but it's still nice to have a car thats under warranty. My 98 GT has 112k and i've never had a problem, same with 93 LX 5.0, 88GT, etc..

If you never need it then it ain't worth it. But you need it and you don't have it you'll wish you did. I had a 75,000 mile extended warranty on my last car. It came in real handy at 53,000 miles (+ or - a few). Saved me more than the warranty cost.

I got a 7 year, 75,000 mile on my new one as well (it's not my every day car)

How much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking? I can't even get a price on the Ford ESP site as you have to have a VIN # and I don't have the car or a VIN # yet.

I think with some issues that may not be resolved with this new mustang you should. I didn't want one @ first but am second guessing. you can always get an extended warranty from the date of your expired warranty through Ford, but the price for that same warranty will be higher. I am planning on getting one possibly through either Ford or AAA. AAA's platinum warranty for 75,000 miles runs for $850 about.

i have an extended warranty on my vehicle to 75,000 miles. I'm an everyday driver of this vehicle and put about 40 miles on the car a day. I'm at 8700 miles and I've had the car since November. My previous 02 Mustang V6, same deal, i had the warranty at 36,000 and then I upgraded it to 75,000 and it helped me greatly when it hit the 40-50,000 mark. I had exhaust leaks, bad alernator, head gasket replacement, new intake manifold. So yea the warranty is def well worth it, and for you young folks with the shaker 1000 and beatin the systems with 50 cent and other rappers music, your system, if speakers are blown by the music, your speakers are under warranty, which was good for me in my V6 cause my stupid cousin, who i regret letting drive my vehicle, blew the two rear speakers of the mach system in my old car. But the answer to your question, yes the warranty is worth it, and when U go to send the car in for trade or anything like that, if you did not reach the extended warranty limit, you get some of your money back. So I payed 1500 for extended warranty at 36,000 to end at 75,000, the car got flooded at 56,000. I received 800 bucks back from the extended warranty I didnt complete.

Don't worry Allen. Last I knew the CA state insurance commission only allows vehicle manufacturers and dealers to sell extended warranties to CA residents. Third party insurers cannot sell directly to consumers, with the EXCEPTION of WarrantyDirect. Not sure how WD managed to lobby this, but that is the case. And I'm a little leery of third-party insurers since many have failed over the years, I understand.

Thanks Jim! Looking forward to our meeting at Alice's Restaurant and a cruise through the mountains. Good weather ahead and great photo opportunities.
