at the dealership.

Has anyone purchased it, what's the cost, is it worth it?

I had checked out the Ford ESP plans after I bought my 05 GT. Their prices are very high. It would have cost me over $2,200. for a 7/75K for the GT. I found a web site; http://www.carbuyingtips.com that had good info on after market, non Ford warranty plans.
I ended up with Warranty Direct. They cover more than the factory plans and at less money. I bought two plans for two cars for alomost less than 1/2 of the Ford plan alone. Factory plans do not cover normal wear either. This plans does.
E.g. if the enigne smokes and has worn rings, this plan covers it. They have different types and lengths of coverage. I am pleased with the plan. Even checked them out with my regular non dealer service shop. They said they are good. Never had problems getting paid. Most non factory plans pay the repair shop by company credit card, so you don't have to pay up front, then wait for reimbursement

Yeah, Ford left a pretty bad taste in my mouth with the
warranty I bought for my '94, so I figured I would never
buy one again. But I figure I have a while to wait pleanty
of time to research all of my options.

Thanks I'll check that site out.

I got one for an extra 3 years. It isn't a ford one, but it's good at my dealership, and since they have to use Ford parts, it's pretty much the same. Mine cost $1500.

Warrenty and DR. in the same boat You never know how good they are until you need them. I have Ford and have never had a problem with them.
Can't say the same for GM

I bought the Ford Factory Extended 7/75K plan for $1,500.00. I figured it was cheap insurance on a new muscle car design...

I usually do not buy extended warrantees, but this one covers all non-wear items down to the Radio. It even has 7/75K free road side assistance with free flat repairs even if not the original tires.

Ditto; We got the same deal + 3 free oil changes.

Of course every time we go to the dealer we HAVE to stop by and see what goodies they have in ... so in the long run the 3 "free" oil changes are not really "free", they get it back on the "toys".

Seems like some dealers overcharge and others are competative; best to shop around. Also let the dealership know what they are competing with before spending your money. They are in business of making money and you should be about reducing costs.
