Exhaust Questions - Every Day Mustang First Mod

I am looking for exhaust for a 2007 GT, I dont want to deal with exhaust smell that some of my friends have. I like the factory rumble, but I do want it louder. I dont like the SLP sound and Was thinking Bassani or Flowmaster but have to admit Im getting confused with all of my options.

If I get catted or uncatted whats the difference with sound and what not, x-pipe or h pipe, which is louder? Also I dont want to deal with loss of mpg or bad exhaust smell in the vehicle.

That clip has the Bassani X pipe with cats and Bassani Axle Backs. I have just the Axle Backs and the sound is very similar, just a little quieter...but not much.

Exhaust smell comes from no cats. I like it, myself.

H-pipe is louder inside than X, more balanced noise level between inside and out
X-pipe is quieter inside than H, bigger difference between inside and out noise levels

H-pipe is choppier, deeper, "muscular"
X-pipe is smoother, more metallic, "exotic"

H-pipe makes usually less top-end power than X
X-pipe usually makes less low-end torque than H

No cats ("off-road") are louder than cats, but pollute slightly more and may smell a bit
Cats reduce emissions and smell, but are quieter

Almost any mod that improves exhaust flow will INCREASE fuel economy.

muslenutz, if you don't want to deal with the smell of exhaust / gas inside the car, definitely make sure you keep your cats then. As soon as you remove them in ANY car, you're going to smell it, and it IS noticable.

Race or Street Bassani what is better? I imagine the race is just louder? Also will this set up work on the 2007?

Think Im going to go with this set up, it also is modular so you can take the cats on and off if you want. What do you think?

Bassani SS Race Axle-back 2007 Mustang GT - 46075

If you are undecided what you want exactly, I would suggest getting it one step at a time. Try the axlebacks first with the stock cats and h pipe. If it isn't loud enough, then go with the X pipe. You would be suprised how much the mufflers alone will wake up the sound of the car.

The main diff. between the race and street versions is the race are louder, but have worse drone.

Here is a nice little comparo on GT500s. It will give you a general idea of the characteristics of some of the setups. Unfortunately, Bassani was not one of them.
