why would anyone wanna go make it sound louder, or deeper... will end up sounding pretty good too, I'm sure. But, won't sound like a Mustang.

Let me put it you this way...I have BBK longtube headers, Dr. Gas o/r X-pipe and 2 chamber flowmasters and it still isn't quite loud enough! I'm surprised at all the stock votes because I definetely don't want my car sounding like every other mustang on the street. It will still have that distinctive "don't F w/ me" mustang sound, but it will sound a lot better.

Actually some of us "stock" people have driven an 8. This will be my forth Mustang and all have been 8 cyl. 2 standards, 2 automatics. I changed the exhaust on my 1990 to a Mac system and I did like it. On my 97 GT I ran straight pipes for a while, which sounded awesome, but at most times was too loud.
I will stay stock for a while but, I do agree, it will need to sound more aggressive. First I will work on the body, then the sound.

SOmething funny happened today. two ricers where parked next to eachother and said if they turned and revved their car at the same time, that they would sound like a V8. I laughed at them and they just sounded twice as annoying. I can't wait for my mustang.
Long headers are going to be a must for me. Not only do they look awesome under the hood, but they will sound meaner.

I would stay with the stock system. I saw that video with the camera right by the exhaust tip. And it sounded amazing. I thought Ford did a very good job on the stock system. But what you guys think?

Even if I like the sound I'm still giong to an aftermarket set for two reasons. The first being that I will install an all stainless steel after-cat system because when it snows around here they salt the roads like theres no tomorrow. The second is, someway, somehow, I will figure out a way to mount side pipes. I have side pipes on my 97 and I love them. Thats just me though. B)

The GT COMES with an ALL STAINLESS system from the get go, as does the V6!

But at least you have one good reason to upgrade

Just watched the video and that does sound pretty good, but the jury is still out I think. I just can't get over the fact that the mufflers are right near the bumper I think there's a 100% chance of seeing the new mustang with fartcans and that's a shame.
