Exedy Clutch - Opinions?
http://www.americanmuscle.com/exedy-...-kit-0510.html
At 117,000 miles I think my OEM clutch is getting ready to call it a day.
What do you guys think about this clutch? I'm not familiar with Exedy (always used OEM in the past) but the price seems right. The reviews on AM are all complimentary - which is suspect to me because ALL reviews on AM appear to be complimentary, unlike Amazon which appears to have more honest reviews. (taking tinfoil hat off).
Anyone tried one/have one? Feedback is appreciated before I pull the trigger on this bad actor.

I've had both the 400 and 500 and they were both good clutches, running a 400 right now. The 500 had a little heaver pedal since it was good for more torque, but not too bad. For the price and the fact that they come with a throw out bearing I would recommend one.

Brenspeed was pushing sales of the Exedy over the Spec when I ordered from them. They sent me the Spec anyways.

I know a couple guys that work for LuK here in Ohio, I hear they make good stuff too... just looked one up for curiousity, they do make for mustang
I just put a newtakeoff disk in mine a week or two before the outwest trip last summer, my PP/Flywheel still had tool feedlines showing, throwout was smooth, just gave it a shot of grease and reused...only cost 50 bucks- I'm at 71K now, hope to get to 150k or so out of it, was really surprised at the wear though- i abused it quite a bit, but only the disc was showing wear, the dust grooves were about half gone...
If I ever do it again, I'll drop the rear cradle mounts- even with decent equipment, getting it in/out was tight- had to compress a couple diaphragm fingers to let the pilot in-out...had to tilt that far... drropping the cradle a inch woulda been a pretty easy option.

Exedy or McLeod are my reccomendations. I've never been a fan of Spec. I want to say I've seen to many problems with them but everybody I know runs a Spec so the elevated number of problems I see might largely have to do with more people running Spec clutches.
Its overkill of a GT without serious power but I've run a McLeod RXT ever since the factory clutch took a crap in my car and I've got nothing but good things to say about it.

OK, I'm gonna pull the trigger on this bad boy then, based on your recommendations! Going to get this Exedy and the FRPP pilot bearing.
Tom, I'd get the Stage 1 since you are stock. Don't mess with the Stage 2 on up, those are more for track usage. Unless, of course, you enjoy a nice, truck like clutch experience.

I thought the Exedy came with the bearing?

I'm sure that bearing is perfectly fine and would not expend the money on a FRPP one without solid proof it makes a difference.
In other news, I'm convinced of getting an Exedy myself now. Thanks for makin' this thread, y'all!

According to the reviewers on AM, they all seem to agree the Exedy pilot bushing isn't as robust as the FRPP one. Since the FRPP one is only around ten bucks, I'd just as soon do it right since I don't want to take apart the whole kit and caboodle again for a VERY LONG TIME.

I am failing to find these reviews. Don't suppose you could point them out...?
Now, I will admit that I found the reviews of the FRPP bearing, and of course that's all glowing... but so are the Exedy reviews I'm seeing there.
