ERL says "Damaged in transit"
#1
My car seems to have been damaged in transit
It was supposed to come in last week.
What the heck!?!?
Anybody else had a similar experience?
What is going to happen next?
Any advice on what my next move should be?
Should I call Ford customer service and demand an explanation :ranting: or just wait and see
Dealer doesn't know this yet, he told me today he lost tracking of the car on his computer :bang:

Hey Manu,
Sorry to hear about your car. Jenny called me this morning to give me an update on my car and she told me about your problem that you are having. Below are some Ford codes for damaged vehicles...I am not sure this will help.
Good luck!
Mike
DVO DELAY E DAMAGED VEHICLE – DELAY
• Your vehicle has been damaged in
transit.
• Further shipment has been suspended
pending the disposition of the damage.
NONE – Status will update when
disposition of damage has been
determined. If further clarification is
required, call the Vehicle Order
Processing Center.
DVO TERM F DAMAGED VEHICLE OPERATIONS –
TERMINATION
• It has been determined that the
damage to your vehicle is sufficient to
warrant cancellation of delivery.
NONE – Contact Regional Sales Office
for assistance in scheduling a
replacement ord

If the damage is minor [under $600], it would probably be repaired prior to being shipped to the dealer [so your dealer really needs to be vigilant when inspecting the car when it comes in].
If it is minor [glass breakage] then it will be fixed prior to final shipping.
If it is over $600, it will probably not reach your dealer, instead they will be notified that the car has excessive damage and the car is being returned to Ford. It will then probably be repaired and sent to an auction with a previous damage disclosure. The region at this point usually gets involved on a retail order and places an expedite on a replacement vehicle.
Hope this helps somewhat.

Man, that really sucks.
This is the reason I was really anxious last weekend with Rita passing through Texas and was trying to figure out how my car was traveling to Arizona on the train.

Man, that really sucks. I would be so bummed out if it was the week of delivery and I was told something happened to my baby. Hope it's just something minor and you get your car fast.

Yep, I'm bummed...
Thanks for all the replies, it helps!
Dealership had to check with Ford representative to get the details and here is the story I heard today: apparently there was some quality control issue with a pump and the car was never really shipped, just delayed. It should be there within 10 days.
I don't know if this makes any sense or not
Somehow I do trust this dealer though.
But now after these explanations I called ERL tonight:
"Your vehicle has been diverted from your dealership to another dealership"
c:
RU kidding me !?!?
Somebody's playing with my nerves here.
Please someone tell me this message is harmless and is just there for lack of better message for my situation?

OK just for the record after a long week of ERL silence I finally heard "Your car has been diverted from another dealership to your dealership", much better...
That was 3 days ago.
And now in less than 1H... I am picking it up!!! Woo-hoo :drive:

(Nick: I'm in Alameda, not too far!)
Man I thought the ordeal was over...
So I pick up my car, everything is fine, looove the color, dealer is so nice, gave me an x-plan as agreed, no BS.
Then time to drive home (15 miles). I find the car is running hot, but hey I never drove a V8 or a sports car for that matter, and it's new so I say why not? Also I really don't know too much about cars...
4 blocks from home the coolant temperature gauge reaches the red marker. WTH!?!? :bang:
I stop immediately and as I do so the whole gauge turns red and the coolant temperature alarm is set. Also in the stress I scratch the right rear rim while backing up too close to the curb. Aaaargh!
WHY ME?
I call Ford road assistance, get it towed back to the dealer. Fortunately their garage is open until midnight. I just left my Ranger for maintenance to the manager 1H ago, he can't believe what's happening.
To make a long story short, turns out the cooant level was too low. The assumption is that the idiots that repaired the power steering pump (another dealer before it reached mine, that was the "damaged in transit" fix) had to mess up with the coolant pipes and they lost some coolant.
Anyway I got to drive her back home in the end, but this was not my idea of how things would go.
Oh last surprises of the evening:
o drove through a crazy sprinkler I could not avoid, car is dirty already
o car did not fit in my old house garage, too wide!! Unless I can fold the mirrors but I don't think I can do that.
Enough complaining, now that the storm has passed I finally started enjoying it today B)
Next post hopefully in the intro& car photos.

darn man... sorry to hear about that... that's rough
But now you've got her
Too bad about the garage... it's just a one-car garage I assume.
You might be the first to build a garage around a car
